Balamory is the latest of Harry's favourite TV programmes. We have a nice little routine in the mornings of eating our breakfast and watching a few of our favourite shows, and Balamory has now been added to that list. Advantages: fun stories and songs in a great location Disadvantages: makes us scots look foolish again!!!!
The first time I saw Balamory I wasn't sure whether I really approved or not as like a lot of Scottish based programs it does seem to make us look a bit backward. However, that aside, the structure of it is quite good and it teaches children lots about colours and different places. It is filmed on the island of Tobermory on the west coast of Scotland and there are some lovely shots of the harbour and the local scenery.
It is set around the nursery ... ...she welcomes the children into the nursery where they have a visitor. There is always some problem that needs solving and whichever character is involves always has to visit one of the brightly coloured houses on the island who then sends them off to see yet another character to finally solve the problem.
There are many characters apart from Miss Hoolie. Josie Jump is the lively, sporty one - Spencer is the colourful painter and musician - Edie ...

Advantages: good for children Disadvantages: none really
Balamory combines of storytelling,with some great characters and learning to provide pre-school children with fun and memorable experiences.
P.C. Plum is a warm-hearted community policeman, who can often be spotted riding around on his bicycle. P.C. Plum is never happier than when solving one of the many mysteries that happen in Balamory. It is good for children from nursery onwards, I know my children enjoy Balamory very much, bought them all the ... ...noisy night, no one in Balamory has managed to get any sleep. PC Plum solves the mystery when he discovers Archie testing a fabulous but disturbing invention. Litter Bug - Penny Pocket and Suzie Sweet keep finding litter outside their shop.
And there is a DVD bonus Episode: The Lost Voice - when PC Plum loses his voice, and the mystery in this episode is to find out what he is saying.
