...language barrier is explored in Babel isn’t funny, it’s terrifying! It is very difficult to explain without giving important aspects of the film away so I shall try and explain in another context. Imagine a situation in which you are in another country and one of your loved ones needs help hurriedly and you desperately try explain to someone who doesn’t speak your language in another country where your loved one is and that they need assistance. Advantages: Excellent cast and performances Disadvantages: Nothing major
Babel is multi-award nominated film starring Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt but they are far from the stars in this ensemble piece. The film is in four parts, with each story interlinked. For the most part the connections are obvious but one of the connections is more subtle than the others. Also the stories are told out of sequence with each other. Whilst each story takes roughly the same amount of screen time, not all of them run concurrently, which ...

Advantages: A gripping script, good cast and excellent direction Disadvantages: if you don't like subtitles avoid this
...first seen the advert for Babel I have to admit that I really wasn’t sure if it would be my sort of film. The more I thought about it though, the more tempted I was to actually watch it. Babel certainly isn't for everybody's taste. There are four stories interweaved between different ...

Advantages: Great cast, excellent cinematography Disadvantages: poor script, poor direction, waste of time.
It is a tedious film and frankly very boring. Alejandro Gonzalez's previous films have been enjoyable, so I was looking forward to this film. But I felt that it was trying too hard to get the message of poor communication accross.
I was also disappointed in the director's choice not to make use of his cast (which was an amazing line up). It felt like glorified cameo's with very little back story and so I was not emotionally attched to any of the ...
