Since most people actually know what this film is about, I won't bore you with much details; misfit oil riggers are the only people who can save the world and so the great american carnage visual eye candy fest begins. and ends. I really can't believe the amount of people who truly rate this film as unmissable and awesome. ...non-sensical and patronising it actually is. Now I am a film lover and I love a lot of films that are considered dire by others but this takes the biscuits. Another film where the plot is abandoned for special effects and a list of heavyweight hollywood stars, hoping to cash in on the trailer. My advice is that if you've seen the trailer than that is it. No characters to bond to, no twist and no wasting two hours sat in your local multiplex to endure. ...

What's the movie about? Armageddon explores the rare but real threat of a meteor impacting with Earth and wiping out civilization as we know it. The movie opens up with some great special effects of 'Golf ball' and 'Volkswagen' sized meteors raining down on New York's unsuspecting public. ...to the very climatic ending, Armageddon is a high paced roller coaster ride through an amazing sci-fil thriller. Despite the wham-bam high octane action, the storyline is reasonably consistent as asteroids hitting the Earth have been a topic of discussion for sometime now. Armageddon - is another disaster movie from Hollywood. These guys think that if they pack couple of special effects seasoned with the likes of Bruce Willis and Liv Tyler they will have a blockbuster. Well, they did their best. The result however is a lame film with the holes "the size of Texas" in the plot not mentioning that it is offensive to the Russians. Let me explain this in more details. A top notch film. This is for any one who likes a sci-fi but not in the conventional terms. Has to be said this is the first film I have seen Bruce Willis cry and die. The storyline is about a giant meteor about to crash on our litte planet. NASA was going to send some cadets to blow a hour in the middle of the meteor but with Bruce being the worlds best deep see driller refusing to teach them but would rather go up himself with his own rebel crew ...
...have been convicted for something or other. It leads onto them getting trained and then going to space to land on the meteor. It contines with each of them dying off becuase the job is dangerous until they blow it up and some of them surive to becuase savoirs to the planet. ...

OK, OK...I love this film. But I have to admit it really does depend on who you are, what you like and definately whether your a boy or a girl! In terms of stereotypical, yes, this is another the world is about to be destroyed-all hell is breaking loose-send some poor, brave souls up to rescue us-all is well movie, but I think there is something about it, that gives it that edge. Firstly the special effects are absolutely superb,...and I mean SUPERB. ...
...are very well defined, with appearences from the likes of Bruce Willis, Steve Buschemi (i think I spelt that wrong!), Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck amongst others. Liv and Ben provide the love story and I must admit this is definately a weepy movie for the romantics of you. I went to see this movie in the cinema right after I saw saving Private Ryan. What a huge mistake!!! Firstly, I shouldn't have gone to see this movie at all, secondly, I shouldn't have watched this movie after a great movie. I absolutely love this film. It has a fantastic cast, amazing special effects, arguments and even the odd weepy moment in it. I love it so much.
