Advantages: Interesting and unpredictable Disadvantages: Irritating and implausible
...it in my mind that Arlington Road was one of those strange David Lynch dramas that would make absolutely no sense from start to finish. I was therefore quite surprised to find that the film was actually a fairly interesting, if not rather frustrating thriller. Arlington Road is a film with a point. It is interested solely in the concept of terrorism and although it was made in 1999, it now feels more appropriate than ever. But this film isn’t ... ...interested the creative team behind Arlington Road and so they have crafted a tale that sets about informing us how and why these people do what they do.
Michael Faraday is not your average American citizen. Not only has he lost his wife in an incident that he believes should never have happened, but also he blames government policy for putting his wife there in the first place. Secondly, he has a vocational interest in terrorism and imparts his ...

When Michael Faraday returns home one day, he finds a young boy wondering down the middle of the road with his hand bathed in blood. Rushing him to the hospital, Michael saves the boy's life and is later thanked by his parents, the Langs. Michael gets to know Oliver and Cheryl Lang very well after that and they quickly become good friends. However, he soon begins to show concern for Oliver's's interest in his son, and, after some research, he discovers ... ...More research suggests that Lang, who has some terrorist activities in his past, may still be very much involved in terrorism. Can Faraday work out what it is that Lang is planning and stop him before it is too late? Jeff Bridges plays Michael Faraday, in what I think is one of his best roles. Faraday is a University Professor, and lost his FBI wife three years before when she was working on a case. He now has a girlfriend and is trying hard to move ...

How well do you know the people you call your friends?, strange way for me to open up a review of a movie doncha think? well this is the whole basis of the movie 'Arlington Road' only instead of taking it that you just don't know that much - the creators of the movie take it that one step further. So a little bit of background for the movie, we open seeing a young child stumbling disorientatedly along the middle of a road hearing a multitude of voices ... ...few feet behind him and this is where we're introduced to one of the main characters of the movie as Michael Faraday (Jeff Bridges) emerges from the car and tries to get the boys attention. Before long it becomes blatantly obvious that the boy is seriously injured, and so Michael begins to help the child, before taking him to hospital. It is here at the hospital where we first meet Michaels neighbours - Oliver (Tim Robbins) and Cheryl (Joan Cusack) ...

This is Arlington Road, an unsuspecting ordinary road in a quiet suburb in Washington DC. A road where anyone of us might live, a road that has very few exciting events, but that is all about to change….

...those around him. Arlington Road has some very good twists in it's tale throughout and it also helps that the situation is believable to a degree. Some people might not buy into the fact that terrosirsts would come in the shape of a normal family on an american suburban street. But then again it's the perfect cover for such operations. Bridges character at one stage makes a good point about the people who are blamed for some terrorist acts. He makes ... ...the film you are waiting for the usual good guy/bad guy confrontation that obviously ends up being okay in the end. I'm glad to say that Arlington Road doesn't actually do this and actually goes in the opposite direction. I won't say how but I think you'd be generally surprised. ...

This film seemed to be released to little fanfare and it was only when I was circling the bargain basement bin that I came across this. After turning the case round to read many of the praise worthy quotes from different publications and critics I decided that this would be well worth taking a chance on. The plot for this story is essentially that Jeff Bridges plays the part of a teacher on terrorism who is still haunted by his wife dying as a result ... ...he sees this kid staggering along in the middle of the road, blood is dripping from his arm profusely and with no time to lose rushes him to the hospital. It at this point where he is introduced to the parents of the boy and indeed his new neighbours. We soon learn that his neighbours are not quite what they seem but the real truths are more horrifying than he can ever realise. It is at this point that the film takes you on a wild ride, a journey ...

I bought Arlington Road purely because it had been sat teasing me from the Woolworths sale section for weeks. I had read many good things about the film, but in all honesty the leads didn't encourage me to watch it, the director had no track record, and the plot seemed like your average X-Files paranoia nonsense. However, it had been one of those days at work and some frivolous spending seemed in order, so, Arlington Road is now in my DVD collection.
... ...but when the music and action kicks in it does deliver quite a jolt.
You will see far more boring films, far worse performances, far less impressive direction, see Arlington Road with low expectations and you might be surprised, I was left satisfied, but I wouldn't want an encore. ...

When I watched it, I was absolutely blown away...I know some people have given this film indifferent reviews, probably because the film is so original, and doesn't seem to follow the expected route. The ending of this film is so controvertial and shocking that I was blown away, and have since bought this DVD and watched it again. If you are looking ...

Arlington Road takes place in suburban Washington and is centered around Michael Faraday, a man who was widowed when his FBI agent wife was killed while on duty. She also left behind a nine year old son, Grant. The movie begins when Faraday comes across a boy about the same age as his own son, is walking down the street with his arm burnt severely. Faraday rushes the child to the hospital and in doing so, saves his life. The boy's parents are grateful, ... ...track records for disc releases. Arlington Road is no exception, either; it contains three theatrical trailers (one for Arlington Road, one for Starman, and a final one of The Last Picture Show), a 20-minute making-of featurette, cast & crew bios, an audio commentary track with the Director and Jeff Bridges, English captions, and an alternate ending. Both Dolby 2 channel and 5.1 channel English soundtracks are included, and I found the surround mix ...

...Brady Lang, who stumbles down Arlington Rd. with blood dripping from his body. Jeff Bridges, who plays Michael Faraday, a single professor who teachers a course on terrorism at a local university, observes this terrified and injured child from inside his car as he drives by. What an exhilarating opening scene. While it may be a little over the top, it does provide the setup needed for such the brutal, bloodthirsty film this really is. It is not a film for younger viewers, and I would check into it some more if you're faint of heart or squeamish in any way. This movie takes itself seriously for every second of the way, unlike many other "scary" movies out there today.

Arlington Road is a supremely taut and tense psychological thriller starring Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins. Both of the leads give massive performances as the film builds to a thrilling and powerful climax.
Right from the opening scene, where Bridges as high school teacher Michael Fraday drives up his street and finds a young boy near to death, rushes him to hospital and saves his life, this film has you on the edge of your seat and is just perfection.
... ...and pretty soon Faraday has a gut feeling that there is something dreadfully wrong about Lang. He begins rooting through his past and finds that he changed his name about twenty years previously to that of Lang, who had died. Previously Lang, or Fenimore as he is actually called, had planted a bomb. Faraday is convinced that he plans no good.
That's the basic premise, but it just provides the framework for a really gripping and memorable film, which ...

Advantages: Suspenseful, Fine acting Disadvantages: None that I can recall
I thought this movie was really well done. I happened to like most of what Jeff Bridges does, so I was not surprised by the quality. It was suspenseful, exciting, mysterious, and emotional. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see a thrilling suspense movie with a twist ending. The other actors were very good as well, as I felt personal emotions from the type of character they played. They made me angry, and or sad, anxious and it ...

I watched this movie last night, and I found it to have a very clever storyline. The plot had a few twists in it, which made the movie more enjoyable. There was suspense as well as some emotional moments in the film. Tim Robbins is an excellent actor, as is Jeff Bridges, and as the plot comes together throughout the film, you become part of it, as it unfolds. It also has a somewhat surprising ending!

Advantages: Excellent ending Disadvantages: Probably won't watch it again
This was an impulse buy for me, I think it must have been in a sale or something. Anyhow I had not heard of the film and it sounded fairly interesting. It stars Jeff Bridges (playing Michael Faraday) as a man trying to come to terms with the death of his wife 2 years previously. He befriends a new family played brilliantly by Tim Robbins & Joan Cusack (creepy woman). At first they seen like any other normal couple, but as Micheal gets to know them ... ...to the street. He soon believes that they are up to no good, but nobody will listen to him. Indeed, he does uncover a terrorist plot, but the full extent of it is not revealed until the end of the film, which blew me away. I challenge you to guess the ending, it one of the best I've seen for quite some time. A shock ending to a good thriller. This is recommended for a nights rental. ...

What does your neighbour do? Family, respectable job? But what does he do otherwise? Terrorist, murderer? That is just part of the plot of this excellent thriller, where Jeff Bridges the college lecturer who lost his his wife when she was killed whilst working for the FBI, has suspicisions about his neighbour (Tim Robbins.) Is he paranoid or right that this man is a bomber and responsible for many of the worst attacks in America.
The film is clever ... ...bomber and the way the film is crafted means there is always the element of doubt. What is also excellent is the ending, not hollywood at all and this makes the plot line all fall into place. In fact it is the ending and manipulation of human emotions that make this film one of the best thrillers I have seen in a long time.
I cannot add more about the plot without spoiling it, but the acting is superb and very convincing and the suspense generated ...
