...other novel by Mr Brown, Angels and Demons. I have to say that I found The Da Vinci Code pretty boring but seeing that Angels and Demons was on at the cinema last week I thought I would go along and have a peep to see what all the fuss was about. Forever the optimist I hoped I would be pleasantly surprised. As you might guess from a movie of this nature there would be plenty of publicity and hype from the media and the film industry and no doubt ... ...film. Even though Angels and Demons is far more engaging than The Da Vinici Code, it is less pleasing. I did think that The Da Vinci Code was nearly saved by the last minute introduction of one of Langdon's associates, no other than Ian McKellan, who with a comedic air surrounded by such seriousness from his fellow actors, was obviously enjoying his role. He obviously had sussed out just how silly and camp the whole affair actually was. Unfortunately, ...

== Angels and Demons ==
Directed again by Ron "Happy Days" Howard, with Tom Hanks again in the role of Robert Langdon, the film centres around the Vatican and the election of a new Pope. Scarily enough, the '''Illuminati''' are up to no good. They're a secret society dating back hundreds of years, but now they're back, and they're going to blow up the Vatican with an anti-matter bomb. No, seriously.
Four cardinals (candidates ... ...Langdon attempts to recover them before they can be dispatched in a variety of unpleasant ways - possibly best you don't see this film if you're not keen on rats...
All this nonsense gradually heads towards a climax, which, without giving away anything whatsoever, involves big explosions and people waving guns at each other.
=== So what did I think? ===
Well, on some sick level of my soul, I quite enjoyed this film. Although I find Tom Hanks to ...

Angels and Demons was released May this year, I watched the Da Vinci Code and therefore felt it a responsibility to watch Angels and Demons. I thoroughly enjoyed the last movie and even though I personally view sequels to be less exciting than the first films, I went to see this on one of the first showings as I’m a sucker for any mystery thrillers and this was definately one which I had anticipated for some time. Dan Brown wrote a series of novels but in the book versions, Angels and Demons was published before The Da Vinci Code however the film was obviously ...

_Angels and Demons_ is the sequel to the hugely successful film _The Da Vinci Code_ and sees _Tom Hanks_ reprise his role of _Prof. Robert Langdon_ in it. ANGELS AND DEMONS == Intro == Following in the footsteps of its immensely popular predecessor 'The Da Vinci Code' comes 'Angels and Demons', the second in Dan Brown's series of religious thrillers, adapted for the big screen by Ron Howard. After the book sales spiraled upwards and rivaled even the likes of Harry Potter 'The Da Vinci Code' was made, and was well received enough to warrant this sequel. It's not an awful performance by any means, but for the vast majority of the film I found Hanks to be fairly dull and emotion-less, simply lacking the charisma for the title role. However, it's not all bad. Hanks does come across as a convincing university lecturer, and it's a generally competent performance that at least doesn't make you cringe when you hear them, like in ...

Advantages: It's relatively short. Rome is a lovely city. Bernini was a great artist. Disadvantages: Taking a mediocre book and duming it down isn't going to make a great film.
Prior to seeing Angels and Demons in the cinema all I could get from friends and family who had already been was that it was better than The DaVinci Code.
