Advantages: Great to see De Niro in a light hearted role. Amusing Disadvantages: Not as funny as it should have been
This film finally answers a question about Robert de Niro that's been niggling me a while. If you look at the guys face he's got laughter lines all over and I've always reckoned he's had a real desire to be a comedy actor. OK he played a comedian in Scorsese's King of Comedy but that was actually quite a dark role. Here he actually breaks through the barrier and makes us laugh at his character. The basic story line goes like this, Robert de Niro's character is head of the mafia and after seeing his best friend gets killed, he has a rethink on life and need to see a shrink (Billy Crystal). The film also features Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe from friends. Here acting is just as expected and literally is the same as in Friends.
The film was not one that I enjoyed much and I don't think that I would pay to see this one again. The combination of the ... ...the film. It's trying to be too comical with poor jokes. Although there are about one or two parts where the jokes are just about laughable.
There is nothing memerable about the film so unless you are a fan of the three stars or you just like mafia type films then stay well away from this one. ...

Advantages: excellent cast members Disadvantages: Too much Italian FAKE
The greates asset of Harold Ramis' "Analyze This!" is the excellent cast. Not only Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal, but also Chazz Palmentieri and the other supporting actors. I do not want to say that the screenplay isn't funny, it really is. But with a lesser cast, the film wouldn't work so well.
