This DVD was another of my bargain buys to watch during the football. Me and my hubby were both very impressed with it. THE FILM The film involves Paul Vitti,. I watched this movie last night on Sky when there was not much else on, and I must admit I was pleased that I did. When the trailers were out for Analyse This and when it came out on video, I wasn't that bothered (even though I'm the girl who's seen practically everything in Blockbuster, I hadn't seen this). Whether you be a fan of Mafia films or you simply enjoy comedy then this film is definitely worth a try. If you like both, all the better! What a revelation this film turned out to be. I'd never thought of Robert De Nero as a king of comedy, but this film shows that the man's talents are boundless. The plot is a simple and intriguing one. Robert De Nero plays a mafia mobster called Paul Vitti. It's a film with Robert De Niro in it.. so it has to be good, right? Well, it's certainly a slight change of direction to his usual mob type films. The film's about a mob boss (De Niro, of course) who realises that he can lo longer do the things gangsters should do - shoot people, for example. However the movie is a bit slow for my taste it gets around in a very predictive manner, so there nothing new about the movie apart from excellent actors doing very limited roles. Robert De Niro is not repeat not a comedy actor,in Analyse This he attemps to make fun of his roles as Mafia men in films such as Goodfellas.The problem is either De Niro can't be funny or he just had a bad script to work with, probably a combination of the two.Billy Crystal on the other hand is a comedy acor and was obviously going to be the funnier of the two in this film.Crystal plays De Niro's psychologist and is forced into treating him. This is one of the funniest films I've seen in a long long while....I loved it. It is something that will definitely have you laughing for some time. The image of the mafia has moved from the Godfather of the 70s to the Sopranos of the 90s and from seriousness to humour and silliness. Overall, I found "Analyze This" a very amusing comedy, well worth seeing. There are a number of laugh-out-loud lines, a screamingly funny parody of "The Godfather", and a well-chosen cast that's very funny. Movie is also very well photographed, and is never boring for an instant. Some minor objections, though: (1) Robert DeNiro was funny and believable - except for his crying scenes.
