Brilliant sets and acting from all the main actors. Witty dialogue as you would expect from Oscar Wilde who originally wrote this for ... ...goals or expectations on them which will only result in your disappointment.
Everett puts in a fantastic performance as the aristocratic fop who's allergic to commitment, and the rest of the cast also provide polished performances.
Witty, clever and an indictment of the fact that no-one is perfect. ...

Advantages: Stunning Script, Rupert Everett is simply gorgeous Disadvantages: Tries too hard to escape its theatrical roots
...Oscar Wilde play, this is an enjoyable film with many clever twists and witty one liners. The beginning of the movie starts off shakily with the director so keen to remove any airs of staginess from the proceedings that we are bombarded with quick scene changes all over London for no reason what so ever. However once the plot and direction settle down you can enjoy the sumptuous cast and script. The main story revolves around the politician Sir Robert ... ...onto his idle life as a bachelor. He oozes sex appeal in all his scenes and is at his best trying to outwit and seduce Mrs Cheevley. Overall an enjoyable movie, where you will end up marvelling at the genius of Oscar Wilde and talents of Rupert Everett. ...

...gentle through the life of an up and coming politician Sir Robert Chiltern, his wife, sister and best friend (Lord Goring). There are dark moments when Sir Robert has to choose his country or himself but all is resolved in the end.
What truly makes this special is the language used, the sarcasm flows like honey and the one-upmanship is only thinly disguised. ...
