In general American (So-called) humor leaves me cold. The antics of the likes of 'national lampoon' and Steve Martin seem more crass and pathetic than funny. Also I'm somewhat older than the films obvious target audience (Late teen/Early twenties) So it wasn't with any degree of high expectation that I sat down to watch this. And sure enough, to start with it didn't 'grab me', but slowly I began to warm to the characters and their growing predicament. ...
...for one... surely even an american teen wouldn't be THAT thick/desperate). But the majority of it seemed plausable, and hence amusing. Slipping some nerd a laxative for instance, haven't most people faced with a school theif wrapped ex-lax in an empty Cadburys wrapper and been unsurprized when the person they suspected missed most of that afternoons leasons? Even the 'twist' where Alyson Hannigans nerdy character turns out to be quite the 'man-eater' ...

American Pie is a great film, it is childish humour, but many adults will enjoy it. What a great movie. What a great DVD. The features are the best of any DVD I own. Ok so I don't own the matrix, so what. I only wish I'd seen it at the cinema. Ok the story was thin, but who cares. I'm up for watching slightly indecent teenage romps whenever they come out, but this one has been the best for a while. Keep an eye out for the cast, they are mostly unknown, but you have a feeling they'll be popping up on our screens again. Great movie....must ...
