American Pie (DVD)

Launched in 1999 American Pie can be credited with starting off the teen movie genre, which to this day is still one of my all time favourites. The story starts with Jim (played by Jason Biggs) performing an intimate act with very embarrassing consequences. This is the best opening scene of any film, and whilst cringe worthy it is pure genius. The opening scene sets up the rest of the film perfectly as the audience are introduced to four friends ...
...the sequels, the imaginatively named American Pie 2 and American Pie 3, you will see where this fits in to the trilogy. I agree that Finch's episode with Stifler's mom is a bit far fetched but it adds another dimension to the film and adds to the comedy value. It would not be the same without it. ...

This movie was some of the most hilarious scenes in cinematic history. I laughed through the whole thing. The story concerns four teenager boys who are desperate to have sex. Only one of the four has girlfriends, but she isn't sure if she is ready. They decide to make a pact to lose their virginity with the deadline being prom night. Hilarious.? Well maybe, definetly funny but not hilarious. The scene is a well troden one - Amercian students just finishing school (A levels time roughly) and off to College (university). American Pie was one of the funniest releases of it's year (along with the quite outstanding South Park animation). It is a reminder of all your teenage hormones, emotions and horrors in a 90 minute hilarious flick. Most of the laughs and jokes are created through some sort of sexual activity and they all work wonderfully but there are some other great moments.
