Absolutely mind-blowing. I fell in love with the characters and so unbelieveably attached to them. It makes you see rascism from two completely different lights, and portrays problems of today, dealing with a beautiful powerful storyline. The performances by Edward Norton and Edward Furlong were particularly sensational. When the most tragic scene arrives, I dare you not to cry! I love the use of black and white on the past scenes and colour in the ... ...to broaden, and the ignorant to understand. American History X
This is the story of a racist man turned straight in the bible belt of The United States. This move is certainly not for the faint hearted, as there are some real grotesque clips within. Also, black people may be offended by its racist content. However, i thought it was a truly inspired and moving picture, despite the dangerously low budget approach. Advantages: Ed Norton Disadvantages: Sadly just misses the target.
Edward Norton stars as a Nazi fascist who, well-tatooed has been a big part of his black-hating group since he was young.
However, a stint inside gives him time to reflect, and an unikely black friend inside shows him that his actions were not exactly right. On his return home he discovered his younger borther going down the same roads as he had, and vows to stop it happening.
Sadly this film doesn't quite hit the mark. The story line just doesn't ... ...intelligent to have gone allong with it all in the first place. Don't get me wrong, this film is worth a look, but just don't hope for a real classic, its not quite there!
Norton is good, as always, but its certainly not his best role! ...

It explains the views of a former Nazi who has experienced years in prison with a black man and later on in life, when he gets out of prison, changes and tries to deter his brother from Nazism. what a great film american history x is, if you haven't seen it then i advice you to. it's about a man named derek who is the leader of a neo nazi gang. mainly it is about how he changes when he gets locked away in a prison full of black men and a small group of neo nazi after killing two black men. first of all he hangs around with the neo nazis but has to work with a black man who changes him for the better. this act angers the small group of neo ... ...off his bollocks) in the showers. when he finally gets out he is a changed man in a racist town, his brother who looked up to him as a racist doesn't change and is later shot and killed by a black lad because of his ways. on the whole a very good film which is worth watching. ...

one word to describe this film, it's insight into political america is fantastic. It's from the street and shows the drama and feelings of a character reformed of his neo nazi ways. Some really shocking scenes but realitic in it's attempt to show what occurs when racial divide is umongst us. Edward Norton is fantastic as the nazi fanatic and also plays well the reformed nazi. Advantages: Great acting, very inspiring. Disadvantages: Not for the faint-hearted.
This movie focuses on the ever growing neo-nazi communities. A guy gets sent down for standing what he believes in and all the while his younger brother joins the group, becoming a neo-nazi himself. American History X is not another Crime/Drama film,something like "hit and run". It's story about two racist brothers Derek and Danny. All started then Derek's younger brother Danny heard a noise outside and saw two guys snooping around his brother car. Derek ran outside and unmercifully killed them. He was sent to prison for 3 years. In prison he understand that racism and some other things that he believed is pointless and bullshit. Meanwhile his ... ...Derek is his hero. Then Derek back from prison he saw that nothing has changed. His friends, Danny still are racists. Derek mission is change his brother before it will be to late and start a new life. A film about racial hatred in America starring Edward Norton and Edward Furlong (kid from T2).
I thoroughly enjoyed this film, it had (nearly) everything to make this a good film - excellent performances from the main cast, realism, and a good story. The film is gritty, and there are some scenes that could leave a bad taste in your mouth afterwards (pun intended).
The only problem I have - is it finished? I am pretty sure the director and Norton ... ...There are holes in the story which could make the viewer thirsty for more ie - Norton working for the cops to infiltrate the neo-nazi gang. There are other sub plots in the story that are in the end meaningless.
It is still a good film, but it left me wanting more. ...

When i frist saw this movie i wasn't really that interested but once i had watched it my opinion definatley changed. For me it was one of the best films i have seen. I thought edward norton was amazing and it really proved a point. It proves that people can always change no matter how hard it may be.
