...rest of the movie.
Along Came A Spider is a thriller through and through – and to be fair, it doesn’t disappoint in terms of action. The film romps along at a considerable pace, and free from the shackles of a love interest, or emotional plot, it focuses on encouraging the viewer to spot the clues. Nonetheless, despite the frequent twists and turns in the story line, I’m sure I won’t be the only person to conclude that it ... ...films that don’t make sense, Along Came A Spider will certainly keep you busy.
The film also suffers from comparison to other, better films. A cross-city chase involving Alex running across Washington from one phone to another bears more than a passing resemblance to a similar sequence in Dirty Harry – and whilst these things may look cunning in films, anyone who uses a mobile phone will find themselves scoffing at the idea of an unbroken ...

Eye candy comes along in the form of Jezzie Flanagan, played by Monica Potter, a young Secret Service agent at the school that Megan attended, who begs Dr. Cross to allow her to help him find Megan. She looks like a blonde Sandra Bullock, and has those expressive doe-like eyes that can tear at a moments notice. She and Dr. Cross pursue the kidnapper in the hope of finding Megan Rose.
As I said though, there are plenty of twists and turns ...

...been applied to that movie. Along Came A Spider is his secpnd movie appearance...and nothing has changed. The movie is good, but at the end when its all ironed out you'll wonder why all the twists and turns when the solution was a mere step away.
The movie opens with a 'sting' being carried out on a serial killer. An undercover police woman wearing a wire is posing as his next victim, the passenger in his sports car which is being tailed by more ... ...The games have begun.
Along Came A Spider has plot twist, after plot twist, after plot twist - in fact you could argue that it has one twist too many for its own good. However, no matter how convoluted the plot gets it is still easy to follow because Patterson's style is not to confuse with trivialities and over-complications but simply to entertain. This is brought through by the director here, so do not think that this is a movie which might lose ...

Advantages: Morgan Freeman Disadvantages: A little long. Some weak links in the acting.
I don’t know what’s going on here. Normally, I just ready myself to tear seven shades of slit out of any movie that sets about showing itself off as an intelligent thriller. Normally these so-called intelligent thrillers are about as predictable as an episode of Scooby Do (except the brilliant Scooby Do on Zombie Island – a much watch). “Along Came A Spider” is different and it is different for two reasons; the critics ... ...and I don’t normally.
The criticisms of “Along Came A Spider” that I’ve read often seem to suggest that film lacked bite. I’ve read that the initial action scene sets the movie up to be truly great and then it fails to follow through. Well, lets not be too surprised to discover that the initial scene has car chases and things going boom. These critics who pretend they’re above explosions and really into some serious ...

Advantages: Good thriller that manages to keep us guessing Disadvantages: The basic premise is somewhat old hat
Along came a Spider is, in general terms, nothing that we haven’t all seen before, but Spider manages to be just that little bit different to make this a thriller definitely worth watching.

Monica Potter plays a secret service agent who is posted at a school that educates the children of influential ... ...child is kidnapped from the school (the daughter of a Senator), Potter feels she has failed in her job to protect them and when the kidnapper draws Freeman into his games, Freeman reluctantly lets Potter team up with him to bring the kidnapper down.
Like I said, nothing new there, but this is different in the way that the events all unfold. The kidnapper’s agenda is to commit the crime of the century and not is all as it seems. The acting ...

Advantages: Great Plot, Suprise Twist, Great Acting Disadvantages: Bumbling Bad Guy
Intrigue, deception and suspense is what ‘Along came a Spider’ promised you and that’s exactly what you got. This is the second adaptation of a James Patterson novel and the prequel to the 1996 film and novel by the same author ‘Kiss the Girls’. I was lucky to catch this film at a special preview at my Students Union Cinema and even though it was free I would pay a normal price to see it as it was a really great film. ... ...returns as the detective charged with the unravelling of a complicated kidnapping. As with the first movie Morgan Freeman (Amistad 1997) returns and carries on with the detective role that films such as ‘Se7en’ illustrate to be one of his best characters. In fact the films laurels rest both on his shoulders and the plot. This time, however, he teams up with Secret Service Agent Jezzie Flanigan, acted by Monica Potter (Patch Adams 1998), ...

Advantages: an interesting cat-and-mouse story that makes you think Disadvantages: minor flaws that make themselves known if you watch and re-watch
I first saw 'Along Came a Spider' at the cinema in Manchester because we had tickets to a special preview the week before it was released. However, what started as a free night out turned into one of my favourite movie watching occasions, and not just due to the monster Ben and Jerry's sundaes we picked up on the way in.
My usual preferred genre is comedy so this is not the sort of film I tend to watch. However, while this film is a 'thriller' to ... ...is much more 'murder mystery Miss Marple style' than 'huge action flick with lots of guns'. There are some gorier scenes, some scarier ones and some more violent ones, but these do not make up the bulk of the film. It's gripping and intriguing without being petrifying, and I find I enjoy it so much more because of this.
The story involves the kidnapping of a congressman's daughter from right under the noses of the onsite secret service agents at ...

Advantages: an okay movie Disadvantages: nothing wonderful
Along came a spider, is not as you might think about arachnophobias. In fact it has nothing at all to do with spiders.
Never having even heard of the film, it was somewhat a bit of a gamble when we decided to go and watch it. I am glad I did now, while it wasn’t the best movie I have ever seen – it certainly wasn’t the worse either. The story tells of a senator whose daughter attends a private (high security school). The head of ... ...who is acted by Monica Potter. It’s her job to keep safe all the children in the school, who’s Parents, are senators, or other similar ranking rich people. Jezzie thinks she is in control of security until one day a major incident occurs, and the senator’s daughter is ‘kid-napped’.
Megan Rose (the senator’s daughter) is played well by Mika Boorem, a 13-year-old actress with a lot of talent. As the story unfolds ...

Advantages: Nicely done Disadvantages: Too many twists
...mile off. Unfortunately for Along Came A Spider both these problems are all too apparent in the film.
After a rather uninspiring opening set piece, which is let down by quite poor special effects, paves the way for the main story. This is done in a very short space of time (which triggered warning bells in my mind). In a very, very posh and upper class school Megan Rose (Mika Boorem), daughter of a Senator, is kidnapped by her ‘teacher’ ... ...he is on the case, along with Jezzie Flannigan. Obviously this is a film where you cant really tell much in fear of giving too much away for people that have seen it so I wont delve into too many other plot details.
The film is both clever in some ways and misguided in others. The main problem is the twists, I’m not clever and I don’t want to be a smart arse but I did see the main twist coming and this was because of two main flaws. ...

...atall plausible, then go watch Along Came a Spider!!!
I personally went to watch this as it is the long awaited sequel to the fabulous psycho-thriller 'Kiss the Girls.' I loved Kiss the Girls and expected Along Came a Spider to live up to it's high standards.....it didn't!
In Along Came a Spider, Morgan Freeman continues to play criminal psychologist Alex Cross. His performance is certainly just as excellent but as for the film, it's pretty laughable.
... ...you who haven't yet seen the movie, but the plot is basically set around a guy who kidnaps a senator's daughter. Towards the end, there are quite a few unexpected twists and turns, but the resolution is as predictable as ever.
The film was pure entertainment in the sense that my boyfriend and I laughed all the way through due to it's many minor mistakes and unbelievable subplot. The kidnapper's motive is also just as laughable.
This is a story ...

Advantages: Another good performance by Morgan Freeman Disadvantages: Not very original
In the tradition begun by the queen of detective fiction herself, Agatha Christie, this Hollywood thriller takes its title from the line of another piece of fiction - in this case a nursery rhyme. And that, really, is about as sophisticated as it gets. It may just be that Crime Fiction and me just don't get along, but ... well, it was all just a little bit disappointing. It reminded me very much of 'Silence of the Lambs' in terms of psychology and ... ...the film that it was striving to be another deeply enthralling psychological thriller. It failed.
The plot is so inplausible that, really, it doesn't stand up at all to close scrutiny. Basically there's this criminal psychologist, Cross (played superbly, as always, by Morgan Freeman)who is failing to come to terms with the death of his partner eight months earlier. He becomes involved in a kidnap case and the ensuing cat-and-mouse chase involves ...

It wall the fault of Pizza Hut!!!! We were originally planning to see "The Dish", however, our meal at Pizza Hut took sooooo much LOOONGER to arrive than it should have done, that there was no way we were going to make "The Dish" on time.

This film reminded me of a feature length version of cracker with Morgan Freeman in the role of the Police Psycho Analyst (Alex Cross). It also has elements of the Sixth Sense in it as you need to watch the story carefully again to justify the conclusion in your own eyes.
The film opens with a Car chase in which Freemans partner is killed, Freeman supposedly retires from the force due to this. One day on TV he hears of the kidnap of a Senators daughter, ... ...from her high security school, who is really a professional kidnapper in disguise. The kidnapper calls Alex to start off the manhunt. Alex then teams up with the head of security at the school, Jessie Flannagan who has been suspended for her failure.
It transpires the kidnapper whose real name is Gary Sonnej is the same man who was involved with the death of Alex Cross's partner. Gary leaves several clues including a web camera conection from his ...
