...basically a short making of Alone in the Dark, various people sing the movies praises, where they admit to not doing an interpretation of the games but that they took the characters and did their own story. So I guess after seeing this we cannot really complain about the film being nothing like the games. ...pile of rubbish. I've played Alone In the dark (a long time ago, I can't remember much of it) but the bits I do remember aren't anything like the plot, story or setting of this film. Basically you've got Carnby who disappeared as a child from an orphanage with all his other fellow orphans then came back again. (rubbish idea, eh?) Basically this film has stolen ideas from Aliens and done them incredibly badly. People who have symbiotic creatures ...
...original idea there - NOT! The film ends with them discovering all the missing orphans were implants with symbiont's to try and open some doorway for some reason (the plot is WAY too complex to follow even with the explanatory trail at the start), and the ending is rubbish - making you think everyone on earth has been taken. The storyline was non existant to the game's and was very poorly written and made no scense at all, the costumes were cheap and tacky and i have also learned that the armour for the soldiers is actually paintball jumpsuits. I watched this film on my own last night, and my brother watched it with his friends downstairs! I thought it was entertaining if a little cheesy! My brother and friends dismissed it entirely, mainly due to the fact that the main actor walked round in a vest trying too be hard for most of the film! Edward Carnby (Christian Slater) aka (Vest man) is the ex commander of a crack team of specialists who deal with paranormal activity, not suprisingly ...

This film is unique among all the DVDs i own. It drags on for too long and there is little to keep the audience involved. The usual plot is followed and you end up wishing the lead characters get killed!!! The only thing this DVD is good for (if there has to be something) is the music accompanying the scenes. This is a poor DVD and there are so many others available that you could easily find better with your eyes closed, for example the Alien series ...
