Advantages: Great action sequel Disadvantages: none
...to copy the original. While Aliens was a horror film with a smattering of action, Aliens was very much an action film with occasional shock and some suspenseful moments. As with all of James Cameron’s films he looked at the original and looked how he could make it bigger! Bigger guns, bigger special effects, more aliens, and of course a bigger alien.
I won’t explain the plot of the film because everybody should know it by now and most ... ...Such as, how did the aliens get to LV 426 originally? Where did the creatures come from originally? How do they see with no eyes?
A tribute to the success of the first two films is the vast array of potential storylines for future movies. The most popular over recent years has been the Aliens vs Predator storyline (go get the comic!) though it’s likely that a future movie might be based back on earth. Nevertheless I doubt anybody other than ...

Advantages: Good effects, acting Disadvantages: a bit macho
The sequel to 'Alien' leaves behind the original's suspense and claustrophobic fear-factor in favour of a more macho shoot out. What we get, however, is a more than worthy sequel. On the argument over whether this is better than the original, it is so hard to say, as this instalment continues the story, adding a new element to the struggle against the aliens. We still have excellent acting, with Sigourney Weaver's Ripley being very convincing, and ...

...seen on the big-screen since Aliens was released, and the rest of the cast is portrayed in an amazing way, with the most realistic weaponary seen for a "futuristic" film.
The special effects for this Film are absolutely mind-blowing and still puts newer films to shame now with the most realisitic looking aliens in any of the alien films that have been made.
The Dialog is superb with the marines stealing the show with some really funny wise cracks ... ...can relate to.
The story is brilliantly thought out with more twists and turns than the big dipper at blackpool and a fight scene at the end that would make Mr Stallone envious. If you've not got this in your collection then you must buy it now for someone in the house for Xmas ( that way you get to watch it when you want ) ...

While they are doing this there is a lot more interaction with the aliens, more fire-fights, more action. Aliens is one of the greatest sequels of all time. My feelings on the film are in much greater detail are available in my review of the movie itself. However this review is based more on the content of the DVD and its features. This is a single disc special edition version. Brief Story Outline
57 years after her first encounter with the alien infested planet ( LV-426 ) Ripley returns with a force of marines to investigate a colony now located there. ... ...Features the special edition of Aliens and additionally the original theatrical version. The special edition features an additional 17 minutes of footage and is director James Cameron's preferred version. This footage is all high quality and fits in seemlessly with the theatrical release. It begins with a short intro from Cameron. Some of it provides a superb insight into LV-426 before the aliens attack the colony including when the aliens are first ...

...Sigourney Weaver being pit against Aliens in different ways. The first film saw Ripley's ship Nostromo invaded by an Alien causing havoc, murdering her crew mates. In this one she awakes from a 50 year sleep by a new crew who found her in her pod. Advantages: Superb heroine Disadvantages: Slow to get moving
For me "Aliens" is superior to its prequel, thanks to one aspect - Sigourney Weaver's character. Whereas in the first film she spent most of it as a fairly typical sf heroine, James Cameron develops her into one of his strong female characters to rival Linda Hamilton in "Terminator 2". With a gun in one hand and a child in the other, Weaver blasts away at gender stereotypes as easily as she blasts at aliens.
The rest of the film doesn't disappoint. ... ...colonists have mysteriously gone out of contact. To no one's surprise, the cause is a gang of alien parasites and Weaver's fight against them becomes more personal as she attempts to destroy the infestation and protect the child survivor she has rescued. The film excels in script, effects, designs and acting, and with slightly lesser gore might be easier to stomach than the first film. Highly recommended. ...

Advantages: A lot of aliens Disadvantages: Kinda old
Aliens is probably the best on out of Alien and Alien 3, I'm not sure about Alien Ressurcetion because I haven't seen that one yet.
I like Aliens more than the other two because it has a better story line annd there are a lot more aliens in this one. The aliens look very life like and the very first time I watched it I got slightly scared.
My favourite part was when Ripley was fighting the mother alien using the yellow machine thingy.
The special ...

Out of the 4 Alien movies ever produced, none brings to life the real stuff that science fiction should be made of. Full of violence, gore, and the edge of seat feelin' that should come from an Alien film. Advantages: Great follow up, continues the story nicely Disadvantages: Weaker character development than the original
Sequels are notoriously bad at doing justice to their predecessors (see Jaws 2,3,4 and the rest of the Psycho series) but Cameron pulss this one off in style. Once again sigourney weaver stars but this time it's a very different film. The crew of Ripley's ship are dead at the hands of the original Alien. The ship destroyed, Ripley has a lot of explaining to do. No one believes her until contact is lost with a colony on the planet that Ripley found ... ...again we are treated to a wonderfully suspenseful piece of science fiction but that is where the similarities to Scott's epic end. Cameron's approach is much more full on with plenty of action, shooting and even more Aliens.
