Fun In The Sun Review of50 First Dates (DVD)by

Advantages: DREW BARRYMORE !!!!!!!!!! Funny and whimsikal Disadvantages: Everything else
50 First Dates, works on the basis that everybody lives in Hawaii, everybody has jobs they love. All the scenery is beautiful; you can just go and lie on the beach after joyful work, and no matter what nasty things happen to you, they all become recovered in the end. If you watch this with that attitude you should have a right laugh. It’s a happy, fun romantic comedy. With two of my favourite actors in!

Advantages: Drew Barrymore, easy to watch. Disadvantages: Characterisation, cheap gags, some stereotypes.
Life is good for Henry Roth. He is a successful vet at a sea life centre in Hawaii, with his charm and winning smile he has the pick of the visiting tourist out for a holiday romance and is looking forward to the day he can set sail on his boat to study his beloved sealife in their natural habitat. With this in mind, he steers a wide berth from any kind of commitment, preferring to tell his conquests wild stories about what he actually does for a ...

50 first dates is funny. Nope scratch that it is hilarious! I will admit some of the humour is a bit childish and silly but hey we all need to be a bit silly now and then don’t we? A lot of the humour is aimed at Ula who is played by
Rob Schneider who you will recognise if you’ve seen any of Sandler’s other movies. Ula is the character you will either love or love to hate. He’s a seemingly crazy local ...

Advantages: Will make you feel fuzzy inside, very funny and value for money. Disadvantages: None
50 First dates is a feel-good film. It falls into the RomCom genre but this shouldn't put any guys off watching this.
Anyone whose seen The Wedding Singer will already know that the on screen comedy timing/chemistry between lead characters Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler is a must see and it's repeated in this film!

~~~PLOT~~~ Henry Roth (ADAM SANDLER) is a veterinarian at Hawaii's Sea Life Park, where he looks after walruses and ribs his gender ambiguous colleague, Alexa (LUSIA STRUS). Henry, is popular with the pretty holidaying tourists and has plenty of brief flings but doesn’t commit because of his 10 year plan to study the underwater life of walruses in Alaska. Then one day, when his boat test for his Walruses project goes wrong, it leads him to Hukilau, ...
Advantages: Drew Barrymore being very cute Disadvantages: Sandler's character is quite annoying
Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) is a happy go lucky sort of guy; he has a good job as a vet on a Hawaiian island as well as dating many of the attractive holiday makers with the knowledge that once the holiday is over nothing will ever come of them. That is until he meets local girl Lucy (Drew Barrymore) and immediately falls head over heels in love with her. The only trouble is Lucy has a rare illness which when she wakes ...
This is a film that my missus has been waiting to see for ages so in an effort to win some brownie points (not that I need any of course) I added this to my Blockbuster list. Sure enough it is one of the first films I was sent, much to my girlfriends delight. What better way to spend a cold Saturday night than settling down in front of a romantic comedy with a bottle of vodka and a pack of Stella? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Advantages: Drew Barrymore, a penquin and a walrus! Disadvantages: Rob Schneider and a lack of comedy
The opening sequence introduces us to various ladies from various backgrounds and cultures relating various encounters of varying magnitudes of pleasure to various friends and colleagues following their paradise holiday in Hawaii.
This is handled superbly well and with great humour and bodes well for the remainder of the movie - we are after all only two minutes in.
The gushing enthusiasm toward this mysterious beau is intriguing, as he for ...
...films. These 2 films were 50 First Dates and Maid in Manhattan. They were both only £5 each so it was definitely worth it, according to both my mom and Woolworths.
This film follows a girl called Lucy, who had a very fatal car accident, and she is diagnosed with amnesia, so every single day she thinks that it's the day of her accident. However, this person called Henry, is new in Hawaii and meets her one day, at a cafe. He doesn't know she has ...
Imagine waking every day believing you were at exactly the same point in time, not being able to remember what you did yesterday, the people you met, the places you went to. Imagine being told every day that you suffered a terrible car accident that has left you without any short term memory. Well that's the life sentence that has been dished out to pretty Hawaiian school teacher Lucy Whitmore and no matter what the efforts of her loving father and ...
Henry Roth is a commitment-phobe vet based in Hawaii, who spends his time bedding tourists. But one day he meets local girl Lucy. They hit it off and he can’t wait to see her again. The only problem is that Lucy has no short-term memory and the next time she sees him, she can’t remember having met him before. So Henry has to make her fall in love with him every time they meet.
Just what the world needs, another romantic comedy. There seem to be ...
Advantages: Good romantic comedy with an interesting storyline Disadvantages: A little childish at times
I'll admit straight away that for one reason or another I'm not a massive fan of Adam Sandler. I've found his portrayal of characters in some films a little over the top and annoying (the stupid voices in 'The Water Boy' and 'Little Nicky' for example). So when I was dragged along to the cinema one night by some friends who actually do like Adam Sandler to see his new film which, from one trailer that I had seen on TV, appeared to be another of his ...
50 First Dates is a fantastic movie that I very nearly didn't rent but am I very glad that I did. Picture us on a saturday night and the kids are in bed and we have a bottle of red wine. Okay the scene is set, so off we go:
