Advantages: Action packed gorefest Disadvantages: Annoying central characters
...certainly have made comparisons between 28 Days Later and classic TV shows like Day Of The Triffids, The Survivors and more recently The Last Train. 28 Days Later mixed an apocalyptic nightmare with George Romero's Living Dead movies, with high speed zombies instead of slow walking ones. It was inevitable that after the success of 28 Days Later, the revitalisation it had on British cinema, and the "To be continued..." style ending that this movie ... ...on and the story continues 28 Weeks Later.
Sadly the first point to note is that 28 Days Later, does not really continue on from the previous movie. Although our high speed zombie creations are back, created from an terrible accident; the cast and characters from the original instalment are all gone, worse still never once is there any mention of these characters, so it seems we'll never know their fate. What 28 Days Later does do is introduce a ...

...and it happened to have 28 days in it.
I absolutely loved it straight away, which i wasn't expecting as i'd always avoided films that had zombie's in as i automatically classed them as "rubbish"..... which, looking back, seems rather strange as i'd NEVER actually sat and watched one!! Lol! But i was literally captivated by 28 days later. The eerie sight of London completely empty grabbed me straight away, and the action really started quickly and ... ...I couldn't wait to see 28 weeks later when i heard about it, especially to find out what had happened to London and the rest of the country.
And it is this fact that makes me a little ashamed to admit that it was actually only yesterday that i went out and rented it!!! *lowers head*
Now, i've had a brief glance at a few other of the reviews, and they don't seem to be really enthusiastic about this follow up to 28 days later, but i absolutely loved ...

Advantages: Some good acting, Nice view of the New Wembley Stadium Disadvantages: Poor storyline, Corny Ending
...I was raging!
Now 28 Days Later was full of atmosphere, tension and Britishness...28 Weeks Later is full of gung-ho Americans and nothing else. How on Earth this passes as a sequel is beyond me.
The storyline is one of the ever conquering Americans coming to save little old Britain again. I am not being political here, but its obviously a Hollywood remake. In its defence however, the hero does, for a change, die and he is an American soldier, pretty ... ...myself to enduire anymore of this torture. That and the fact that I hired it and its gone back dont help!
The ending leaves it wide open for a 28 Years Later I guess, but based on this one, I wont be rushing out to hire out. ...
