27 Dresses is the artistic embodiment of why clichéd doesn't have to mean bad; infact, clichéd can be enjoyable and funny and big hearted with great performances and witty dialogue. If clichéd is accompanied by smarts, as it so rarely is in the romantic comedy genre, then the predictability of it all can add to the viewer's enjoyment, cliché creates a sense of safety and comfort and when mixed in with elements ... ...movie experience. 27 Dresses is fun, heart warming, silly, serious and, eventually, pretty darn enjoyable. It is held up by a solid screenplay, charming leads, great visuals and an exciting contemporary soundtrack; here all the elements fit together to hold it above others in the genre making for a highly enjoyable night in.
One of the most refreshing things about 27 dresses is the genuinely clever and moving screenplay which sees Aline McKenna ...

Advantages: There are a few funny moments. Disadvantages: It's mediocre in all respects.
Jane has been in love with the idea of weddings ever since she was a little girl. Her amazing organisational skills means she's been a bridesmaid twenty-seven times, but has yet to be a bride. She's completely enamoured of her boss George, but all her romantic hopes are dashed when George meets and falls for her glamorous younger sister Tess. If that wasn't bad enough, her selfish sibling expects her to organise the perfect wedding for her and George ... ...on Jane's tail. Could it be that he's after a story about the perennial bridesmaid? Or are his interests more than professional? Considering this is only former choreographer Anne Fletcher's second film as director, she doesn't do badly. But as with her first (dance movie "Step Up") it lacks originality on a grand scale. Her visuals throughout are glossy and she uses a wide, cheerful palette that suits the frothy nature of the film. The movie begins ...

...as she has already attended 27 weddings this year. Will Jane get her perfect man and wedding and just what will happen with Kevin and the article?
I didn’t know what to expect from this film as I had heard both good and bad things about it. I think the deciding factor for me watching it was it stared Katherine Heigl who I enjoyed watching in Knocked Up and also that I got this for under £5. I have to say that I was quite surprised by it. The storyline ... ...to see all of Jane’s 27 dresses and I did find I was chuckling at some of them. I only thank god that I was never subjected to wearing any of these dresses!
The DVD which we have does have some bonus material which includes:-
Deleted Scenes
Four Featurettes
The Wedding Party
You’ll Never Wear That Again
Jane’s World
The Running of the Brides
I am not one for watching bonus material so I cannot make comment on if they are any good or worth ...

Advantages: Enjoyable, very romantic, an easy watch Disadvantages: None really
I've been wanting to see 27 Dresses for quite a long time, but have felt a bit put off by the mixed reviews I have read and heard about it. But I do love the romantic movie genre so I was quite sure I would actually like this film, so last night I persuaded my fiance to sit down and watch it with me. He wasn't overly keen on seeing it but I think we're both glad that we gave it a go!

...has been a bridesmaid now 27 times and has a variety of tasteless dresses to prove it. But hey, she can always shorten them and wear them again, right? As we meet Jane she is bridesmaid at two weddings in different parts of New York and is zipping across town changing in the back of a cab. At one society wedding she meets marital cynic Kevin (James Marsden - familiar with the GA effect having starred with Dempsey in Enchanted last year). Unbeknownst ... ...As romantic comedies go, 27 Dresses does try and liven up the formula by making you wonder which guy she will end up with, if any. Like all decent rom-coms you, of course, also have to have a well edited musical montage where she dresses up in all the outfits. Plus our heroine is also expected to embarrass herself for our amusement on several occasions before a disaster of some sort strikes, and she has to change her opinions on something. Whilst ...

Advantages: Good romantic comedy, some very funny dresses Disadvantages: Not for everyone
27 dresses is about a woman called Jane who loves weddings and helping organise them but she is always a bridesmaid but never the bride. The name of the film comes from the fact that she has 27 bridesmaid dresses squeezed into her wardrobe each one a reminder of the times she has been bridesmaid for a friend. The film opens with Jane (played by Katherine Heigl) rushing between two weddings both of which she has agreed to be a bridesmaid for but which ... ...the fun at both.
27 dresses is a romantic comedy. There are really good characters in this film and its not just a romantic comedy about weddings it is also about the relationships and the personalities of the characters involved.
Jane is a lovely character she is friendly and a real people person, you can tell this by the fact that 27 women have asked her to be their bridesmaid (is this a little far fetched I wonder?). Jane is obsessed with weddings ...

With having so much work and being so busy lately I feel like I have had no time whatsoever to just sit down relax and watch a film and it is something I really like to do. However, not always is it the summer films that are the best of the year, sometimes it can be those out at the start that are the best and ... ...is the film '27 Dresses'. The film begins with us finding out the Jane Nichols (Katherine Heigl) has been a bridesmaid at twenty seven weddings. What we first see is Jane changing outfits and rushing between two weddings that she has agreed to be bridesmaid at. It seems a bit ridiculous but in the middle of her attending two weddings she gets ...

So it was coming up to the time of the month where it was my turn to host this months girly night in. Doritos were bought, wine was stocked up and then last but not least, the entertainment for the evening was needed. I was browsing round the DVD/CD department in my local Asda when this DVD's cover caught my eye. It really did screamed total chick flick to be fair but none the less it seemed like something myself and the girls would like.

This film I think is almost every single woman's worst fear...always being invited to the wedding as a bridesmaid but never being the ...

...latest romcoms to achieve success: 27 Dresses. And yes, you're right, there are no surprises. It follows pretty much the mould of many romcoms before it, with love and facing up to truth and sticking up for yourself and following your heart and all that rubbish coming out of every scene.
