Production Year: 2006 - Action/Adventure - Director: Stone Brothers, Richard Donner - Original Language: English - Classification: 12 years and over - Starring:Bruce Willis, Mos Def, Cylk Cozart, David Morse
Advantages: Some good performances in a reasonable thriller Disadvantages: Too opened out, and the baddy realy does stink
...Superman returning, and the actual 16 Blocks itself, and the only extras amount to 26 minutes. These are director Donner and the film's writer introducing and talking annoyingly over several deleted and extended scenes, and introducing a very different ending. It's a little hard to judge as this version isn't scored, colour-corrected or completely polished, but clearly the right one was seen in the flicks.
What we're told is very little - we infer ...

The film starts at a crime scene, some latin gangsters have been murdered and the police officer in charge wants to get an "unimportant" officer to cover the crime scene, an aged out of shape Bruce Willis walks in with a newspaper and plants himself on a seat and takes out a hip flask of whiskey. He plays a charcter called Jack Moseley, an old tired police ...

Advantages: Fantastic performance, great directing Disadvantages: Quite hard to understand at first but gets easier through the film
Hung-over, has-been cop Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis) has seen better days, and all that the force expects out of him these days is to stay out of trouble while he's on the clock. One of his assignments is Eddie Bunker (Mos Def), a witness who has to testify before a grand jury at 10:00am. Unbeknownst to the two, a black van was trailing the pair, and after stopping off at a nearby liquor store to pick up some breakfast, Mosely emerges from the store ...

16 Blocks is a fast paced action thriller that starts off well but soon descends into implausibility. I enjoyed the interplay between Willis and Mos Def despite Def adopting an accent that resembles Porky Pig. David Morse is fine as the leader of the cops on the trail of the duo. But something just doesn't sit right within the plot of the film. I would have thought that if you had a witness whose testimony could clean ...

I bought this from HMV about 2 months ago when I was in town, having never seen it before and being a fan of Bruce Willis. It was a cheap price at £5 and definetly worth the money.

I used to make a point of watching every Bruce Willis film. Loved him in Moonlighting in the 80s. I have only just got around to this film and wish I hadnt bothered. Bruce looks odd, made up to look old, well his age probably! He plays an alcoholic cop close to retirement. He ends up stuck in a job when hes supposed to be going off duty. He has to get a prisoner across 16 blocks.
Basically this film was a series of gun shooting scenes and was so dull that me and the fella stopped watching after about 45 minutes. So what happened in the second half of the film I couldnt tell you!
My question is, has Brucie had his day???
