...I was pleasantly surprised by 102 Dalmations, however. The plot starts with eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil Cruella De Vil (Glen Close) having been "cured" of her fur addiction - in fact, she has become a bit of a dog lover! The new technique for mind readjustment that was used on her isn't exactly perfect though, so will Old Cruella come back? This is certainly the viewpoint of Parole Officer Chloe Simon (Alice Evans), who mirrors the rather interesting ... ...chance because they don't change. (Oh well at least it's different!!) Add in a deranged Furrier (Gerard Depardieu), De Vil's loyal (who knows why?) Butler, Alonzo (Tim McInnerny), and a couple of ragamuffins with criminal records who run an abandoned dog shelter, and of course lots of dogs, and you have the whole set. The crux of the storyline is Cruella's personality change and how it affects those around here. There are typical Disney gags and ...

...curious placing here on Ciao, 102 Dalmatians is actually the live action sequel to the live action version of Disney's classic animation and not an animaton itself...erm if that made sense. It is also one of those movies which really had no place being made other than to line the pockets of Disney who having turned over $130 million in box office sales alone in their previous outing were obviously falling over themselves to make another similar killing ... ...too far.
You see, 102 Dalmatians isn't only a cynical attempt to weedle a few more pennies out of parent's pockets because Disney knows that all it need do is put cute puppies on screen and advertise and they'll pack a cinema, but its also an incredibly unfunny movie to boot. The best kids films works on two levels - they are funny for kids and they are funny for adults, which is why movies like Shrek are hugely successful and something like The ...

~ ~ I took my nine-year-old daughter and her little friend to see this latest kiddies’ film from Disney over the Christmas holidays.
To be honest, I was quite looking forward to it myself, as I had taken them to see “101 Dalmations” the previous year, and enjoyed the movie immensely, almost in spite of myself.

So on the drive home I asked the two girls for their “critique” of the movie, working on the principal that since it was made primarily to be viewed by children, who better to give me an insight into whether the film “worked” or otherwise than two kids who had just watched it.
~ ~ It was extremely interesting that their comments complied almost exactly with my own feelings about the movie. They ...

...almost nightmarishly. When I heard 102 Dalmatians was out at the cinema, I was determined to watch it. But my determination failed, and I missed it. So browsing through a DVD site, I spied a copy of the film on DVD, it was region one – but having what I thought to be a multi region player, I ordered it! However, when I got the film it refused point blank to play on my machine. Still I had one left, my good ole PC. And sure enough sat one afternoon ... ...Disney fans).
Basically, Cruella De Vil is released from prison. And she is a reformed character, no more does she want Fur coats, no more is she hunting puppies for their fur! Oh no Cruella (played again excellently by Glen Close) is totally reformed, totally changed! Instead of wanting to kill and wear the puppies, she now wants to help them. Luckily for her (and her millions of pounds), an animal shelter is about to be closed down for none payment ...

...unpredictable stuff, ain't it?)
102 Dalmatians has nothing going for it - even Close is found wanting here - there's a naff story line about a dog charity which de Vil takes over, setting up its owner to take the rap, naff acting, naff obligatory light relief in the form of a "WITTY" parrot who is convinced he is a dog, and some naff romatic interest. The parrot joke may appeal to the sub five year olds, but for anyone who's passed their 11 plus ... ...me there could be no greater insult. It was certainly insulting to the intelligence to have to sit through this entire pile of doggy doos.
Come on, forget it, WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO KID? One remake was bad enough, this is pushing things much too far. What, I ask you, exactly is the point of churning out dross like this unless it is merely to swell the bank accounts of the people responsible. ...

In this highly anticipated sequel to "101 Dalmatians" the spiky-haired villainess Cruella De Vil (Glenn Close) is released from prison after promising that she will give up her dream of wearing the ultimate Dalmatian fur coat. To prove her good intentions, she wears a coat made of garbage bags, trimmed with bubble wrap. But, being the vicious, fur-lusting liar that she is, she is soon plotting another "fur-ocious" scheme to terrorize the spotted ... ...And there's a fantastic Parisian-bakery scene in which Cruella chases some puppies into a cake-making machine and the dogs flip the "on" switch. It's quite a sight to see the sadistic Cruella sliding on a baking pan, which looks like a bobsled, into a massive bowl of cake batter. If this isn't an upcoming Disney theme park ride, I'll crumble my dog biscuits! The canine characters include Dipstick, the son of 101's Pongo and Perdy, and Dottie with ...

This film is the sequel to the original 101 dalmations that was made in 1996, in this film cruella de vil (Glenn Close) is released from the rehabilitation centre and is suppose to have reformed herself, she then has to see chloe simon (Alice Evans) who is assigned to be her probation officer, as much as she is not keen to mind you and screams out cruella de vil is the most where cruella fills in the word for her. Walt Disney's 102 Dalmatians is the sequel to the classic 101 Dalmatians with more spotty dogs and the evil Cruella played by Glenn Close. Cruela is back having been locked away for special treatment for a period of three years. Apparently she now adores spotty dogs and would like to open a home for abandoned dogs. She goes to see her probation officer and when she is there notices three adorable dalmatian puppies. When Big Ben stikes Cruella suffers ...

Another masterpiece from Disney! This film (although no comparable to the first...but how many sequels are?) is very good. Cruella DeVille (Glenne Close) returns as a new woman who adores puppies after treatment in labs. But when Big Ben strikes, the old Cruella returns and its mayhem again!
Oddball is the starring puppy. He is the puppy with no spots and is pure white with bright blue eyes...ahhhh. He is the real hero and saves all the other puppies ... ...a perfect Disney film. Cute little doggies that make you want to go out and buy 10 of them...the boy that falls for the girl...and the evil victim with the stupid side-kick!
This film is enjoyable for all ages. You can't go wrong. But I suggest to get a real flavour of the second film, watch 101 Dalmations first. I would have preferred it is they had made an animated version instead, but you can't have everything can you?!
I wonder if there will ...

I watched 101 Dalmations and thats why I wanted to see the second. I found it to be not as good as the first but there was a lot of funny parts, especially with the parrot that thought it was a dog. I felt really sorry for the little dog that didn't have any spots to begin with. It's a great film for kids and if like me your a child at heart then adults also. The kids will just love this film. Having a daughter of four, this was the one film she wanted to see this Christmas. Not having seen 101 Dalmatians I can draw no comparisons to that but my only real complaint about this film is that the dogs didn't play a big enough role until the middle of the film, I would like to have seen them sooner. ...'Walt Disney'. This time with 102 dalmations, not 101! The film itself was outstanding, really great! Again with 'Glenn Close' playing the evil part of Cruella DeVil and many characters from the first film. The film is a great laugh like the first one and I highly recommend it for a 1 to see at the cinema. I went with my nine year old sister and her friend to see this at Christmas, and having seen the first film i would go as far as to say that i was looking forward to it.
