The story starts by showing us the army transporting some toxic waste barrels late at night. As the truck passes through a small town, some barrels accidentally fall off ... ...and into a kind of sewer pipe, which is conveniently located next door to a cemetery.
Later the neighbourhood bullies find the barrel and unwittingly release the safety catch and the poisonous Trioxin 2-4-5 infects them. The Trioxin also drifts to the nearby graveyard. Yes you've guessed it, the corpses start to raise, and that all to familiar cry of BRAINS! Is heard.

The Plot.
The story starts by showing us the army transporting some toxic waste barrels late at night. As the truck passes through a small town, some barrels accidentally fall off the back of the truck, and roll down a bank, and into a kind of sewer pipe, which is conveniently located next door to a cemetery.
Is heard.
Our heroes, young Jesse, his sister Lucy and a cable installer Tom, find themselves in deep trouble when the army overlooked them during the towns evacuation, and they end up battling against the zombies.
The biggest climax comes when a method to kill them is found. Then it's up to our heroes to lure the Braineating monsters to an area where they can dispose of them for good. But do they succeed? You'll have to watch the film to find out.
Characters From Part 1.
If you watched Part 1 you will recognise Thom Matthews and James Karen from the previous film, this time they play a couple of grave robbers, who get more than they bargain for in the crypt.
Classic Lines.
Freddie to Tina, "You're brains smell so spicy." Zombie with no body, "Get that damn screwdriver outta my head." Jesse to Lucy, "They seem to like brains, so maybe they will leave you alone."
Classic Moments.
A classic but sick moment is when the Zombies raid the local pet shop, you see them eating birds, and you see a dog running for it's life. A zombie has his legs dismembered from his body and the legs are still walking around. They have even thrown in a Michael Jackson Zombie; this is a must to see.
Director.
This film is directed by Ken Wiederhorn, he also directed Freddys Nightmare television series.
Useless Information.
Thom Matthews and James Karen, almost play the same roles as they did in Part 1. In both films, they have the same talk. "Listen kid, if you like this job." "Like this job? Like this job?"
Hardened horror fans will probably recognise Thom Matthews from Friday the 13th, he played Tommy Jarvis.
Dana Ashbrook, who plays Tom the cable installer, went on to star in Twin Peaks.
Also look out for Mitch Pileggi, who plays an army sergeant, he later went on to star in the X-Files.
Conclusion.
This is an excellent film, fuelled by humorous horror, there are some great moments, and classic one liners. This is a must for any Zombie film fanatic. However, you might find it difficult to get hold of a copy. I got mine about 7 years ago from Poundstrecher. But I haven't seen a copy of this film for years.
Did you know there is a Part 3, however it's not listed on here, I bought a copy about four weeks ago, and it excellent, I actually find it better than the first two, which is a rarity with sequels.
Advantages: Decent direction Disadvantages: Poor script, bad acting
...I remember them. Return of the Living Dead part 2 (1987)
This is a very disappointing sequel. The acting is more hammy, the jokes are too obvious, the special effects are too cheesy, the characters more clichéd and they have committed what’s normally a cardinal sin of horror; the introduction of children as central characters. A feat pulled off by very few, The Shining and The Lost Boys spring to mind. But they had the resources of good actors, ... ...and Freddy from the original) return as Ed and Joey; the grave robbers. They start well but soon succumb to a lot of overacting (Lots of “wooahh , it hurts!” and the like). It seems they’ve done it all before and realise that this time it’s just a bit pants. Michael Kenworthy is Jesse, who gave a decent performance in The Blob (1988), but here is just another annoying kid. Suzanne Snyder (Weird Science 1985, Retribution 1988) is the grave robbers ...

Advantages: Funny - maybe not deliberately Disadvantages: Very poor indeed
This is another one of those dead brought back to life now they want to eat your brains kind of films. An army vehicle drops a barrel of something somewhere. Some young lads stumble across it and force it open. this sends a cloud of gas across the local cemetary (which just happens to be being looted at the time). So The dead come alive and walk around incredibly slowly in an attempt to each peoples brains. Why they would want to eat brains I don't ... ...the boys that discovered the barrel. He and his sister, and the cable guy, meet up with the 3 that were looting the cemetary and try to get away from the zombies.
This is not a good film. The story has been done time and time before, the effects are pretty standard, and it contains no stars, unless yuo count Dana Ashbrook, he was in Twin Peaks! Watch this film if you like tacky horror. You won't be scared, but it might give you a laugh! ...

...One of my favourites is Return of the Living Dead Part 2. Basically its a zombie film. The army accidently drop a barrel contains the zombie gas, and it rolls into a sewer. A couple of local bullies discover the barrel, crack it open, which has diasterious results. The gas drifts over the local cemetary, and it happens to rain as well, which washes the gas into the ground. The gas has the effect of bringing the dead back to life, and the cemetary ... ...have been evacuated, except for the people living on a new estate, which has been forgotten about. These people become the victims, and at the end there are only a few people left to try and fight the living dead. This film is a comedy film, its not serious, there are some really funny scenes in it, this is a great watchable film, thats quite enjoyable. Not something I'd normally watch, but yes a great film. ...

Advantages: Gore...gore...gore Disadvantages: No real story line...
The story line tends to never really matter. All these films tend to be the same. There seems to be a prize in these sorts of films for who can create the best monster ungly creature for the good guy to fight against. This film is no exception. One man fights against the forces of evil and even has to resort to removing his hand as it becomes "evil" and replacing it with a chainsaw. This film is really only for people who love this stuff, George ...

The horror begins as mysterious barrels topple from an army vehicle and land near a new housing site and an abandoned cemetery. A couple of bullies from the neighbourhood open the barrels, unaware of the evil within. A green vapour pours out, turning the living into evil zombies and the dead into human-preying nightmares.
