If you've seen the first film of Resident Evil you might be a bit sceptical to whether or not this one is worth an hour and a half of your life…. Well I can honestly say it is!
Plot
Unlike the first film, this one is set above ground in the fictional city of "Racoon".
After a biohazard team re-opens the underground facility, releasing a chemical virus (T-virus) into Racoon City, The Umbrella Corporation (a dominant organisation specialising in biological warfare and ordinary everyday products) decides to cover up their mistake by releasing a deadly creature (The Nemises), a biologically mutated man. In the first film he was a young man (Matt Addison) who was captured by the Umbrella Corporation.
T- Virus: produced by the Umbrella Corporation to mutate organisms into lethal biological weapons.
Characters
Alice (former Umbrella Security Operative) wakes up
inside a white room (Umbrella Lab) to find herself in the middle of the out-break in Racoon City. Like The Nemises she has mutations also, giving her superhuman abilities and with an agenda to find answers from Umbrella.
Jill Valentine (Sienna) a suspended S.T.A.R.S member (Special Tactics And Rescue Service) takes matters into her own hands and helps fight the out-break and soon teams up with a fellow cop (Peyton Wells), together they try to escape from Racoon City before Umbrella release a nuclear missile to erase any evidence of such an out-break.
Carlos Olivera, (Oded) a member of Umbrellas mercenary team is sent in to fight the T-virus (Kill Zombies) but left inside Racoon City to have the same fate as those who are infected.
Dr. Charles Ashford, a doctor who works for the Umbrella Corporation who during the chaos is parted from his daughter and using technology around the city and with the help of Alice, Carlos, Jill and a few others to find his daughter…. The reward: a way out of the city.

Efforts Made
Nowadays many people assume that a lot of action sequences and amazing camera and effects are done by stunt people or computer graphics but with this film Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr and Mathew G. Taylor (The Nemesis) did 95% of their own stunts and did extensive training for fight sequences.
On The DVD
The DVD offers loads of features for both fans of the game and people who are curious to how things were done in the film, it offers:
Commentary by: the director (Alexander Witt), producer (Jeremy Bolt), and the executive producer (Robert Kulzer).
Commentary by: Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, and Sienna Guillory. (This commentary is truly entertaining, informative and very funny)
Commentary by: writer/producer Paul W.S Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt.
Each commentary is enjoyable to listen too and informative
The DVD also includes:
Deleted scenes Outtakes Game Over: Resident Evil Reanimated (making of the film)
I really enjoyed this movie, the use of music in certain scenes really made you as pumped up for that particular moment as the actual character. Milla's performance was outstanding as were all the cast... with Sienna playing Jill down to a T.. and for you men, looking pretty good in that minnie black skirt. (which I must add is not totally justified in the film.. but you could understand after a night out the last thing you'd do to go and fight zombies is to get changed into something 'more appropriate'...)
The Nemesis: I have to say he was done v.well... doesn't look like a man in a rubber suit, which helps when you're meant to be slightly 'scared' of him.
Fans: Although the film does not follow game plots, there are some camera angles and set pieces taken from the game which fans will appreciate!
Overall
This film is truly one to watch, for its effects and good plot considering it's adapted from a video game. The ending leaves you wanted more and a definite set up for a third film. I would recommend this film to anyone who loves great action sequences, moments of humour and a fully enjoyable film.
RECOMMENDED! :D
