Starring comedic genius Leslie Nielsen and directed by Bob Logan (no, I've never heard of him either), this spoof of controversial horror movie, 'The Exorcist', will come as something of a disappointment to you if you're hoping for the laughs you get with 'Airplane!'. But there are a few good moments (enough to see you through to the end, anyway). It's not quite as laugh-out-loud as some of Nielsen's other work, and even bringing Linda Blair - the possessed child from 'The Exorcist' - into the fold to mock herself and her greatest on-screen moment wasn't enough to make this a classic. But it's enjoyable enough with some typical gags.

In this slightly cheap parody, Satan possesses Nancy (Linda Blair) via her TV set whilst she's watching some religious fruitcakes doing their thing in typical noisy, over-the-top fashion. Nielsen is Father Jebidiah Mayii, the only priest who can rescue her and her bamboozled family from the devilish torment.

As you can imagine, the film is basically one battle after another to exorcise the demon - with (often) hilarious results. But beware: the title tune is sooooo annoying! You hear it right from the moment the DVD has loaded up and again several times throughout the film itself. It's enough to make you yank your ears off.

So in conclusion, the 'Naked Gun' films are much better than this 1989 offering, but that's not to say that you shouldn't have a look at it. All I'd suggest is that you check out Nielsen's older work first if you haven't already done so. 'Repossessed' is one to watch after you've seen Nielsen in his pomp. You'll be a lot more forgiving then.

* DISCLAIMER: I wrote a very short review for this film, which can still be found online at a popular DVD rental site (although I can't name it, as we are not supposed to plug other websites here). This formed the basis of the above review. Please consider this before accusing me of copying somebody else's work and giving me a low rating! I hope this is sufficient. I guarantee that none of the above has been copied and that opinions expressed are entirely my own. Thank you.
