Advantages: Great fight scenes Disadvantages: Not in English
...Once Upon A Time In China tells the story of young renegade 'Wong Fei Hungs' (Jet Li) attempts to stop Western invaders corrupting China.
The character of Wong Fei Hung is ancient Chinese myths of a Martial arts master who had the heart of a true warrior. A gentle and likeable character. The film uses wire to propel the fighters metres into the air to capture the spectacular fight scenes. The film is directed by Tsui Hark, a heavyweight of Hong Kong directors, compared to his latest historical movie (Legend of Zu 2001) it shows that his films are moving with the times, that being more character driven and with more special effects. However this film from 1990 just captivates the viewer with its seemingly perfect flow, a must for action fans....

Advantages: Orwellian masterpiece Disadvantages: Needs watching more than once
...Easily Terry gilliams best film, the world it creates is a kind of dystopia of despair, with obvious influences from 1984, except sillier, It's my favourite film by far, and is a typical handmade film. Ok the stories a bit hard to follow thinking it all starts from a fly falling into a printer, but the galaxy of stars who blend so perfectly into this orwellian nightmare of burocracy create a beautiful story, imagine it as what life may have been like had the Germans won world war 2, Jonathon pryce is exceptional as the put-upon everyman with a great supporting cast including Bob hoskins, Ian Holm and Michael Palin, oh yeah and it's got robert di nero in it as a renegade heating engineer......

Advantages: useful quotations you can use every day Disadvantages: can become a strain on the mind
...What just happened? this film has probably one of the most unpredicted twists in film history, barr "the usual suspects". A feeble, condo living business man meets "Tyler Durden", a renegade outcast who leads him through the film, ony to realise that... i won't spoil the story. the film is centered around an underground boxing club, that becomes an organisation, bent on bringing destruction and chaos to their city. the cast is picked well, and act their characters out very well, from the all knowing anarchist, to the satanic, suicydle leading lady. this film has to watched again and again to pick up everything that makes the film great, due to its secret sub action, amusing quotations and brilliant story line. This is a deffinate must buy....
