The Storyline
Remember The Titans is based in Alexandria in 1971, where American Football is more important to the way of life than family morals. On top of that the town is split by racial segregation which was still common place at the start of the 70's. When the town is forced into integrating the all white school with the all black school, racial emotions erupt which unsettles the town right down to the core.
With the integration comes the challenge of having the first ever black high school football coach, Herman Boone (Denzel Washington), along with having to rock the tradition of having a mixed race football team. This causes the white population to rebel against the situation, as there beloved coach, Bill Yoast (Will Patton), was relegated to assistant coach along with the threat that some of there children would be dropped from the team to allow for the new black players. In contrast the black population were excited that a black coach had been awarded the position.
Although the coaches came from completely different backgrounds, they had one joint goal. That was to mould the players into a winning team. Through a journey of discovery they unite the team as one, with no racial tension, making them into a winning force, a united family. Although things never always went as smoothly off the pitch as on. The example the team set demonstrated to the rest of the town that there was no need for racial tension and the hearts of people began to melt, finally uniting many of the town no matter what colour or creed.
Added to this is the sub story of one of the players who suffers a crippling injury of the pitch which affects his whole future. He rises above adversity to lead a powerful life which would inspire many others.
The Cast
The movie is well casted in every possible way. Denzel Washington is powerful as the black coach as he overcomes the racial tension. Will Patton is excellent as Bill Yoast as he has to discover that he has to get over his own racial issues. Along with outstanding performances from Wood Harris, and Ryan Hurst as they unite the football team.

Conclusion & Rating
This film is a modern day epic, which takes you on a thoroughly enjoyable, emotional ride. No matter if you are watching it for the football or the integration of races or the historic element, this film delivers on all fronts. If you have never seen this film I would highly recommend it, and I can guarantee no matter what mood you are in, you will be gripped within in 10 minutes.
The soundtrack is at times moving but with a great mix of soul and western, thoroughly enjoyable..
I would give this a rating of 10 out of 10 as it is in my eyes, a modern epic which delivers on story, cast, cinematography and so much more.

...story from the early 70's, Remember The Titans is all about racial intergration within a small town and the emotional rollercoaster that followed. With a number of subplots and high emotions this film works on a number of levels. The black high school and the white one are forced to merge and ... ...such a masterpiece.
Overall Remember The Titans is an extremely uplifting and positive film aimed at people of all ages. There is no profanity in the film and the only violence in the film is from pushing and shoving and the roughness from the actual game scenes. Even if you have no clue about American Football you will most probably still like this film because it focuses more of the story behind the team. With another supreb performance from Denzel ...

...1971.
I do well remember the year 1971, as it is the year that my parents separated. It was a time when America was struggling with desegregation. Neither side was happy; it seemed that many were wondering if the right choice had been made to integrate schools and neighborhoods. Advantages: good acting, story, soundtrack Disadvantages: can get sentimental
I saw this film while in New York. The film stars Denzel Washington as an american football coach called Herman Boone. He comes to a part of america in the late 50's/early 60's where any other colour other than white is frowned upon. He takes up a job as head coach to the school pushing out longtime football coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton). Naturally at first there is some tension in the community with Boone not getting much support. He brings blacks ... ...Naturally there is more tension. HOwever he takes all the players on a training camp where naturally he teahces them all to get along. This in turn makes the team play better and actually brings the blacks and whites together in the community eventually. Now on reading the above you'd probably think that the film sounds a bit sentimental and isn't anything new. You'd be right but the film is handled in such a way that it becomes gripping, emotional, ...

Highly anticipated, Warner Home Video has been preparing the DVD release of this box office smash hit film for a long time, keeping most details about the disc tightly under wraps for the longest time. Apart from “Titanic”, I can hardly remember another DVD release that was so shrouded in secrecy and protected from curious eyes until very briefly before its actual release. Now Warner Home Video has sent the disc our way and I was eager to give it a close-up look.

DVD Description
While on the surface, American high school football may seem like an innocent game played by the young, for the young, it is, in fact, much, much more. For millions, including many fans who are well removed from their high school years but who love to sit in those creaky bleachers every Friday night or Saturday morning, it is something akin to a religion. Director Boaz Yakin's REMEMBER THE TITANS captures the heart of the sport while tackling the sins of its fathers, chronicling the true story of the undefeated 1971 T.C. Williams team of Alexandria, Virginia, which was the first integrated high school team in the state. Denzel Washington brings his ever-powerful presence to the role of coach Herman Boone, who is brought in to oversee the transition to integration. Though Boone is eventually successful as a coach, the townspeople dissaprove of him because he replaces the popular, entrenched former coach, Bill Yoast (Will Patton). At first, coach Yoast resents being supplanted, while coach Boone is told that his promotion was just for show--to help the integration--and that he's likely to be lifted if the team loses a game. Will the coaches and players be able to overcome their adversity and make T.C. Williams a beacon for integration in sports
