I purchased this dvd for £6.99 from Play.com just before I started my course in Holistic Therapies. I found it very useful as an introduction to Reflexology but not in depth enough to rely fully on as a study guide.
This guide is explained throughout by a fully experienced reflexologist.
An Introduction to Reflexology: - For those of you who are not familiar with reflexology, this principle has been around for thousands of years and is practised on the feet. Pressure points are triggered to help with ailments and general health. Today, reflexology is becoming very popular and even Doctors are reccommending that their clients have the treatment done.
The feet are mapped out to resemble the body and certain pressure points are triggered depending on the problem. This dvd demonstartes this with a diagram and an explanation.
The DVD: -
The DVD is designed to give you an insight into reflexology and explain and demonstrate how it can be incorporated into everyday life. Basically if you are having the treatment done and are unsure of what to expect, this is perfect for you.
The routine she uses is very easy to follow and if you are a practising reflexologist introduces some different movements you may not have seen or used yet. Every routine is different.
The dvd is separated into chapters: -
Introduction - A basic introduction into what reflexology is.
History - This chapter tells you where reflexology is thought to have started and how it has developed througout the years.
First Steps - How to prepare
Relaxation - Relaxation techniques to get the reflexologist and client into the right mood.
Hand Preparation - Preparation for the therapist
Getting started - another preparation chapter, mainly telling you what you need for the treatment and how to set the work area up.
Opening the Zones - How to begin the treatment and open up the zones for the meridians to flow and the treatment to become effective.
The Body Map - A map of the feet which reflexology is based on.
Sensitivity - Things to look out for
Suitability - This chapter will tell you if you are suitable for the treatment. Some people may not, for example pregnant women and diabetics.
Self treatment - An easily explained routine so you can practice the therapy on your own.
Suggested techniques - This will be helpful for a reflexologist as there may be new techniques in there that you have not heard of before.
This dvd is a good choice and worth the money. If you are unsure of anything to do with reflexology please see a qualified reflexologist.
