So Viktor takes his drugs, and a band of inept henchmen, to the States to escape the clutches of the Soviet Police. It is a classic example of what can happen if you dont get the right mix between action and comedy.
The dvd is not one I would recommend. Aside from the actual film, there is a diabolical making of featurette with Arnie and Belushi both saying how talented each other are and how great the film is. This is definitely one to watch on tv. ...

Advantages: Great addictive action thriller! Disadvantages: None really.
...excellent. I was enthralled by Red Heat's stunts and the films ability to encapture its audience.
Arnold Schwartzenager played his role (as an out of town Russian Millitarry Officer) to a tee (even though he is in fact Austrian) and his endeavour to entertain left nothing remiss.
One might think that this film is 'past its sell-by date'. But let me assure you that it is not. If you can get this film out on video....Then go for it!
But for now...Asta ...

Advantages: Stars Arnie, what more needs saying Disadvantages: none
Red Heat starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi stands out as a superior example of a cop action movie where the cops personalities are opposites but are stuck together as a result of circumstance. Schwarzenegger plays a Russian cop named Ivan Danko. This is a well suiting role for him since it's similar to his Austrian accent. Danko arrives in Chicago in the search of an drug dealer named Viktor Rostavili (Ed O'Ross), who killed Danko's ... ...between the U.S. and Russia. Art Ridzik, played by Belushi, is an insubordinate police officer who is assigned to help Danko. Coincidentally enough, Ridzik's partner is killed by Rostavilli's business partners. There're a few well-made action sequences and the level of humour in the movie is fairly high, particularly when the two cops make stereotypical comments about each other's country. This is an very entertaining action/buddy movie that is well ...

This is a movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger...
Do I need to carry on? Surely the rest of this review is now pointless as you know exactly what to expect from this movie. Sadly there is nothing I can write which is going to shock you or anybody else - this is an Arnie flick with no added bells or whistles. The 'plot' of the movie is this:
Schwarzenneger plays a Russian agent who is trying to track down a big player in drug trafficking who is ... ...is forced to team up with a scruffy streetwise cop in the form of James Belushi and together they try to apprehend this criminal. The scene is therefore set for lots of lame stereotypical culture clashes between the loud-mouthed, sloppy, American cop and the super-efficient, cold, Russian agent which bubble beneath the main point of the movie which is basically lots of guns, explosions and mindless violence to entertain your base senses. Its not ...
