Series 1-4 of the smash hit comedy series created and written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor. Chicken soup machine repairman, Dave lister is sent into stasis for bringing aboard Red Dwarf an illegal cat. on awaking from suspended animation he discovers he is the lone survivor of a radiation leak and is now three million years into deep space and the last surviving member of the human race. This would probably have been ok as one member of the crew could be restored as a hologram, unfortunately the low on megabytes ships computer, Holly, has brought back listers room mate, the anal rimmer, along with the cat, a being evolved from his original cat, and Kryten, an angst ridden android they rescue from a crashed ship, they turn the ship around and head for Earth.
This is the series that was originally aired in the late 80's, Early 90's. The Episodes were originally released in DVD in a new digitally enhanced format with loads of CGI and bits missing. Thanks to an Internet petition this classic series has finally hit the shelves, if you're expecting Extras you'll be disappointed and should probably buy the individual series. If you are looking for Red Dwarf in all it's original glory then this is for you, as a little reminder of what to expect here is an episode by episode, series by series review.
