Advantages: Magical stories, timeless classics, will get you in the Xmas spirit!
Disadvantages: Nothing at all

...I bought this DVD about 2 years ago for myself when I was at University and Christmas was coming up. I was missing my family a lot, and I always saw these shows with my parents every year from when I was about 3 years old. So I knew it would be a great thing for me to watch to feel Christmassy. And this morning I was sorting out my Christmassy films and I found this one on the shelf. Harry grabbed it and kissed Father Christmas, so I put it on for my son's first ever viewing of the classic The Snowman and Father Christmas. Both of these are stories by the wonderfully talented Raymond Briggs bought to life in animated short stories. The Snowman is probably the best known Christmas story there is for young children, dating all the way back to 1982, 4 years before I was even born! ...the snowman is about a boy who makes a snowman which comes to life. the boy lets the snowman try on clothes and the snowman takes the boy flying over a snowy landscape where they end up in a wood with other snowmen dancing. hand drawn makes this special features the song walking in the air by aled jones. father christmas my favourite.i love it.father christmas with his rosey red cheeks and his catchphrase another blooming christmas.. it makes me laugh. there is no mr clause just santa and his reindeers. he goes on holiday but scotland is to cold france is too snooty and ends up in las vegas. when returning home he sorts out the mail and packs up the toys.. these are great family cartoons my kids love these they find it difficult to sit and watch most things but these really hold their attention. raymond briggs was born in1934... Advantages: Delightful Christmas movie
Disadvantages: none come on it's a Snowman

...and soon set of on a wondrous journey. Fun and frolics abound, including a mad motorbike ride, and a flight to remember over hill and dale to the sound of ' Were Walking in the Air' of Aled Jones fame, but it must be noted he is not the singer on the movie. The Snowman shows the boy a night to remember, Dancing the night away at the annual snowman's Ball, and meeting the Bigman himself Father Christmas. This movie maybe close to it's sell by date, but I'm sure there's still a lot of mileage left in it yet, As the Magic of Christmas never dies, And who doesn't love a Snowman. My Nephews and Nieces certainly do. Available at all good outlets and rental shops. Costs vary from £4.99 to £12.99, there are some good deals around coupling this movie with the other Raymond Briggs Christmas film Father Christmas on one DVD so shop around.... Read review
