Advantages: Build up of tension, good cast Disadvantages: Slow burner, you may give up after 30 mins
...This is the best example of a 'slow burner' film I've ever seen.
Robert (Winstone) visits a prostitute every day - not for sex, but to ask questions, play board games and chat. The opening 45 mins of this film simply shows him visiting, paying his money and asking questions - most of which Naomi, the prostitute, isn't keen to answer because of the circumstances.
This tension builds up and, as a viewer, keeps you compelled to watch. Why is he visiting her? Why the questions? Where is the film going?
All of the above is answered in the second half of Everything. Just as I was fearing the worst about Winstone's character, some major twists occur and the story begins to unfold.
Winstone is superb as usual in the role of Robert. Not much dialogue, but the build up of tension and wonder is done very well.
Nice to see a good independent...

...was married but an altogether nice guy (played by the excellent RayWinstone).
I really enjoyed this nice english film and it was good to see RayWinstone playing a nice guy for once. The downside is that the plot is totally predictable but it really is a fun all round feelgood movie which makes for easy viewing....

Advantages: True portrayal of borstal in the 70's. Disadvantages: I thought the ending was pretty poor.
...An absolute classic film of the late 70's with RayWinstone and Paul Daniels.
It's a fairly violent film set in a borstal. It starts with RayWinstone's character in a prison van on his way to borstal and takes you through him starting his sentence to becoming top boy in there (The Daddy).
He makes friends with a couple of lads in there who are prone to being bullied - one of which gets raped in the greenhouse and later commits suicide in his cell after a screw ignored his bell being rang at night.
He takes over the wing as the top boy and then gets in an arranged fight with the top boy from the next wing who he beats up in the boiler room.
Although the ending is a bit flat it's still a good film.
Quality film for the money....
