Rancid Aluminium (DVD)

Aluminium paint is chic .

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, no need to thin
Disadvantages: Can rub off onto clothes etc.

Made by good old ICI. Dulux was founded in 1931. The paint was originally developed to give the impression of polished stainless steel. 1 litre will cover up to 18 square meters, depending on the surface. This paint is thin, so will soak in easily. It does not dry to a hard wearing finish, so allow for it to be touched up - ooooh err Missus! Solvent based, so brush cleaning has to be done with turpentine substitute. This paint actually does contain slivers of aluminium. The only colour is of course aluminium. Apply by brush, although small areas can be done with a rag. Either way, I would recommend surgical gloves, Tins are metal, none of those useless plastic ones. Sizes of tins are 5 litre, 2.5 litre. and one litre. Other manufacturers make smaller tins. The Aluminium Plant

Advantages: Quite Easy To Grow
Disadvantages: Toxic Leaves

The Aluminium Plant is a fairly common House Plant although many people that are familiar with this Plant will probably not recognise it from its name. I have had one of these Plants sat on my Kitchen Windowsill for the past couple of years, but I only recently discovered exactly what it was. These Plants are native to Vietnam but can be grown indoors in the UK without too much tender loving care. They are grown because of their attractive foliage. The leaves are long and elongated, they are dark-green with a shiny, glossy appearance, but their most striking feature is that these leaves are covered in silver blotches and streaks. It is these silver markings, that resemble Aluminium, from where the Plant derives its common English name. It's Latin or Botanical name is Pilea cadierei. Rancid. The only word for it.

Advantages: Very Few
Disadvantages: Very Many

Released 2 years after their last album was met with a mixed reception, Rancid decided to return to a more hardcore sound, ditching the reggae-infused sound that had become associated with them thanks to Life Won't Wait. Instead of coming up with a name for the record, the group decided to make it a self-titled effort. What made this strange was the fact that the group's debut album, released almost a decade prior, was also self-titled. Thus, to avoid to confusion between records, this latest release was dubbed Rancid 2000 by fans, due to it's year of release. I suppose you could say the title was significant, as if the group was trying to take a 'Year Zero' mentality, eschewing the poppy hooks and reggae vibes that people had come to expect from them, and hoping to forge on with this new, in-your-face, hardcore punk sound.
