The Rail Gun is a gun that had an infra-red/ night vision scope that can zoom through any wall, fence or building and locks onto the heart of a target human. It fires unlimited rounds at almost the speed of light instantly causing a cardiac arrest. From being mounted on a battleship, Cyrez which is the rail gun manufacturer Lee worked for were ordered to scale them down to heavy but rather manageable weapons. ********* Bonus Features ******* Offering no special edition DVD, Eraser only comes in a rather tacky cased 1-disc edition with no booklet. .... The complete season three collection is on a 7-DVD set containing all the episodes the original Star Trek series (first broadcast between 1968 and 1969). On disc 7 Star trek fans get a real treat, the original pilot episode first commissioned in September 1964 featuring Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Pike (with no captain Kirk!) Indeed two different versions are included one in colour and one where the action switches from colour to B/W, which was never shown. Apart from Kirk missing we also get to see an early incarnation of a much more emotional Mr Spock as science officer and Majel Barrett who later went on to become Nurse Chapel and Mrs. Gene Roddenberry as the female first officer. Advantages: Great feel of epic Science fiction
Disadvantages: A little short on dialogue and weak on characterisation.

...From the novel of the same name by Arthur C Clarke published at roughly the same time in 1968. 2001 directed by Stanley Kubrick broke new ground as the first quality Science fiction film based within the bounds of the laws of Physics, (sound really doesn’t travel in the vacuum of space!) and with a realistic vision of future technology. With magnificent special effects for its day 2001 remains epic and convincing even some thirty-two years after its release. The story begins with the discovery of a magnetic anomaly beneath the crater Tyco on the Earth’s moon, which in turn leads to a mysterious black monolith in orbit around Jupiter. (or Saturn if you read the book.) Commander Dave Bowman and colleague Frank Poole lead the mission to Jupiter with the rest of the crew in hibernation on the long journey to the outer planets.
