Enter the fist (pass the vasaline)
Review of Kung Pow - Enter The Fist (Wide Screen) by  ian4552

Advantages: Original and oh so funny
Disadvantages: You will either love it or hate it

...Steve Olderkerk, better known as the writter and director of the nutty professor. Writes, directes and stars in this tale of a legendary warrior called the chosen one. Who wonders the countryside looking for the man who killed his family, many years before, in order to seek revenge. Sounds pretty much like most of the kung fu films that I have seen over the years. With a small exception. He has taken footage from a 1976, Hong Kong, kung fu film called Hu He Shuang Xing (Tiger and Crane fists) and inserted both himself and new scenes into the film. As well as all new dialogue (out of sinc of course) to create a wonderfully hysterical spin on the martial arts flick. Although the film is only 78 minutes long. Including the end credits. It must be viewed to the end, as during the credits there are some outtakes that will had me crying... Read review

"A Day Without Sex Is A Day Wasted."
Review of Auto Focus (Wide Screen) by  habitualdamnation

Advantages: Well-paced, excellent cast, decent screenplay
Disadvantages: Offbeat, uninspiring, trivial

...deals with Disney fell through because of his uncontrollable addiction and his family deserted him too. As this is not a thriller by any account I will tell you that Bob Crane met an unexpected end at the hands of a an unknown murderer in his room as he was sleeping and this remains one of Hollywood's most persevering unsolved homicides. I have done some reading and it appears that the events that are shown on the film are mostly improvisional and that Crane's second family has dismissed it altogether. In any case, Paul Schraeder (writer of Taxi Driver and director of Affliction and Raging Bull) has made a very interesting account on his life here. Despite what must be said as a offbeat, uninspiring and trivial nature to this film, I found that this movie is very watchable indeed. Firstly, I have always felt that Greg Kinnear is an under... Headless Action
Review of Sleepy Hollow DVD by  wyn

Advantages: Typical Burton atmosphere and direction
Disadvantages: Not startlingly original

...Yet again Tim Burton displays his gothic visual inventiveness in this tale of a headless horseman. Johnny Depp plays police constable Ichabod Crane, who comes from New York to the quiet village of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a spate of deaths involving decapitation. He is not willing to accept that a ghostly apparition is responsible for the deaths at first, but soon changes his mind when he sees the horseman in action. With the ethereal Katrina Van Tassel (Christina Ricci) at his side, Crane decides to take on the headless murderer. Johnny Depp is particularly good as Crane, adding plenty of humour to the character. The sets are good, as is the use of blood.... Read review
