You'd think after 3 years a show like this would loose it's charm and appeal. Not so with Quantum Leap.
~~~THE BASIC PLOT~~~ Set in the "near future" (for the series, this is 1995!!), Quantum Leap is a project run by Dr Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) to investigate time travel: Sam's theory is that one could time travel within one's own lifetime. Something goes wrong, as Sam enters the Accelerator too soon, and vanishes. He awakes in someone else's life - he must put right the wrong in their life to leap on to the next person, aided by his friend in the project, Al (Dean Stockwell), who appears to him as a hologram. In the words of the project's computer, Ziggy, narrating at the start of the episodes, Sam hopes "that each leap will be the leap home".Another season of Sam's time travelling adventures, covering a wide range of topics, including some pretty harrowing ones:
The Ku Klux Klan and racial prejudice
Rape and subsequent trial
Homosexuality in the navy
Despite this, the show still has it's fair share of fun - and yes, it's fair few episodes with Sam in drag! Some of the more light-hearted episodes see Sam leaping into:
A TV talk-show host
The co-pilot of an airplane heading into the Bermuda Triangle
A stand-up comedian
For me, there is nothing which makes this series stand out as being much better or worse than any of the other seasons, but someone must have thought differently, as this was the year that Scott Bakula won his Golden Globe, for best actor in a series! ~~~HIGHLIGHTS~~~ In the episode "It's a Wonderful Leap", Sam leaps into a taxi driver in May 10th 1958. He advises (accidentally) a young boy to invest in New York City property, as it would make him rich; the boy turns out to be a 12 year old Donald Trump!
Another highlight for me is the episode "The Wrong Stuff", where Sam leaps into the body of one of the chimps in the American Space program! This has so many great quirky moments that it really stood out for me!
~~~RECOMMENDED FOR…~~~ …sci-fi fans …those who remember it on TV (It's much better than you remember!) …time travel enthusiasts (Sam's theory on time travel is actually quite convincing!) Note: you don't necessarily need to have seen the first three series to make sense of this one. Although there is an overlying plot - Sam trying to get home - each episode introduces it's own (usually) new set of characters in addition to Sam and Al. ~~~EPISODES~~~

Brilliant scientist Sam Beckett, whilst experimenting with time travel, loses himself in a perpetual warp that catapults him into the bodies and lives of random people throughout time. While he temporarily inhabits a person's body, Sam also must solve a problem or mystery in that person's life, the solving of which triggers another jump. Continually trying to find a way to his home time, Sam has the help of Rear Admiral Albert 'Al' Calavicci, who appears in hologram form, and the supercomputer Ziggy, which provides clues for solving each episode's mystery. This collection contains all of the episodes in the fourth series of the very popular cult show.
