Plot -- What would have been seemingly absurd a situation 20 years ago; 13 year-old Stevie (Cameron Van Hoy) and his girlfriend Rocky (Mischa Barton - 'the OC') find Stevie's mothers gun and on a whim whilst walking to school decide to rob a bank instead. Word soon spreads of this and it is turned into a media frenzy. In comes the disgruntled veteran smoking Police negotiator (Burt Reynolds) to save the situation. But the demands are that of achild and soon even MTV get involved. No kidnap/hold-up film would be complete without the ubiquitous case of "Stockholm Syndrome" as some of the detained customers begin to side with the adventurous and wild children.
With the trend of ever more situations of gun's and children, watching this movie now seems even more hard-hitting and relevant!
The film has some interesting incites into children's mind's and their simplistic nature of viewing solutions to life's woe's. On the whole well acted by both young actors. Worth a watch but a bit of a thinker and not a work of art by any means. Score and script are acceptable but forgettable.
Definately a good addition to any DVD library for those renegade days and at this price you can't complain.

Advantages: Good for kids Disadvantages: That 5 dogs died
..., which showed how through team work, even huge obstacles can be overcome. The script however was another thing entirely; it was very weak and very clichéd, and having cure golden retriever pups talking in faux gangsta rap was almost too much to take, but for the sake of the kids I left it on and suffered in silence.
Some of the special effects were absolutely appalling, whereas others I hadn?t noticed until watching some of the DVD extras. One of the pups gets his tongue stuck to an icicle, but I could swear that at one point the tongue was actually coming out of his nose rather than his mouth. Of course the moving mouths on the puppies looked awful, but then I would imagine it?s impossible to make it look good.
For kids I think it?s probably a good film, for adults it?s a bit wishy washy, I certainly wouldn?t recommend anyone buying it...

Stevie (Van Hoy) is an ordinary thirteen year-old boy who finds his mother's gun and impulsively decides to rob a bank with his girlfriend, Rocky (Barton). The holdup escalates into a media circus, with an FBI negotiator (Reynolds) unable to stop the madness and the hostages inside the bank causing trouble as well. A raw, intense look at what happens when kids who have seen too many movies get a taste of celebrity and power.
