Having already tried the pump it up beach body workout i decided to try the high energy workout as i thought that it would be more challenging than the beach body workout. Like the other ministry of sound workout dvds it incorporates aerobic moves with dance moves to make a fun and enjoyable workout. This workout has 5 sections which include a warm up and cool down aswell as a dance section.
SECTION- WARM IT UP MUSIC- Axwell- Feel the vibe DURATION-This section lasts about 5 minutes EXERCISES- This section includes simple stretching movements to help to stretch your muscles before you start the exercises. It also includes simple side step movements to help you warm up. MY OPINION- I think that the warm up is an appropriate length of time and it helps you to warm up. Also the moves are very simple so everyone will manage the warm up.
SECTION- BURN IT UP MUSIC- Dht feat edmee- Listen to your heart Max graham- Owner of
a lonely heart DJ sammy- The boys of summer Angel city- Love me right Stunt- Raindrops DURATION- This section lasts about 20 minutes EXERCISES- This section has two seperate routines and each time you do the routine you add in extra steps and make the workout harder and more energetic. The routines include side steps, box step, marching, knee lifts and leg curls. Also during the workout there is a section where you do star jumps and side lunges followed by fast sprinting on the spot. MY OPINION- I find this section very energetic and by the end of it i am out of breathe. I find the two routines in this section very easy to follow as the steps are not too hard but you definately feel like you have had a good workout. I especially feel tired after doing the star jumps and fast sprinting on the spot.
SECTION- DANCE IT UP MUSIC- Dons- Pump up the jam Les rhythmes- Jacques yur body Joey negro- Make a move Steve mac- Lovin you more DURATION-This section lasts about 20 minutes EXERCISES- This section contains many different dance movements and aerobic moves. MY OPINION- I find this section quite hard as the moves are quite complicated and the pace is quite fast. I often do not do the whole of this section as i get frustrated when i can not keep up and perform all the moves.
SECTION- TONE IT UP MUSIC- Jamesy p- Nookie Tom novy- Your body Aaron smith- Dancin DURATION- This section lasts 15 minutes EXERCISES-This section includes toning movements to help tone your bum, tum and thighs. It includes a lot of squating movements and lunges. it also includes sit ups to help tone your abdominal muscles. MY OPINION- I think that this section is really effective as you can feel it in your bum and thighs especially after spending a whole song doing squats and lunges.
SECTION- COOL IT DOWN MUSIC- The thrillseekers- Dreaming of you DURATION- This section lasts about 5 minutes EXERCISES- This section includes various different stretching movements to help you cool down and to help avoid any injury. MY OPINION- I think that this section is an appropriate length of time as if the cool down lasts too long i have seen my self not doing it as i can not be bothered.
This dvd also has extras including the videos to many of the songs which are played during the workout. Also it has a behind the scenes documentary and interviews with the cast. The dancers on this dvd appear to be in their twenties and look great which encourages you to do the workout as you want to look like them. The main dancer is fiona who is the main dancer in the pump it up beach body dvd. She is really good at explaining the moves and will show you the moves before you join in and do them. She is also great at keeping you motivated throughout the dvd. This dvd is available from most shops which sell dvds and it cost me about £20 a few years ago when it forst came out so it is probably a lot cheaper now.
OVERALL OPINION I think that this dvd is great and it is a lot harder workout than the beach body dvd. The moves are a lot more energetic and you definately feel more out of breathe and tired than you do with the beach body workout. However i do find that the dance section is quite hard as the moves are sometimes complicated and are at a fast pace so it is hard to keep up. Also i get very frustrated when i can not follow the dance section and has never completed the whole section. I feel this dvd would be good for someone who already has quite a high fitness level as i feel that it would be hard going for someone who has not got a high fitness level.
