My partner bought this DVD quite a while go and after a few attempts gave up using it. Since stopping my gym membership many months ago I started to miss physical exercise and was also putting on a pound or two and as I wanted something that was free and not too time consuming I decided to give it a go.
The DVD is hosted by Deanne Berry, a very attractive blonde that has featured in several music videos, and is split into four sections, each lasting approximately 15 minutes and being given a funky name to bring it in line with the Ministry Of Sound branding, plus warm up and cool down sections. You have the option to play the whole DVD, this would give 90 minutes exercise which requires a very high level of fitness, you can pick and individual 15 minute workout or create you own workout whereby you can pick one or more of the 4 workouts with your selection being automatically sandwich your choices In between the warm-up and cool down sections.
Below is a brief explanation of each section: - Warm Up: This is a nice warm up in itself, there are no stretches just simple exercises, starting with marches, box steps and then moves onto some very light boxercise moves with jabs, hooks and uppercuts - Aeroburn: As the names suggests this is basically aerobics but is quite quick and hard going - BPM: To me this is just an extension of the Aeroburn maybe more dance steps / sequences but where does dance start and aerobics end ? - Beat Box: This is boxercise, starting off with the jabs, hooks and uppercuts from the warm-up and then putting it all together with some combos and other moves (such as the hand ball jabs). It provides a good mix of toning and cardiovascular exercise - Below the Belt: This is really toning but don't under estimate the toughness. There are combos of basic moves, squats, squat knees, lunges for the legs, press up and yoga type exercises for the chest and core and then sit ups and leg raises for the abs. - Cool Down: Just stretches.
All tracks set to dance music occasional whoop and holler of encouragement and most provide options to increase or lower the intensity.
I tend to do the warm up followed either by the Beat Box and Below The Belt sections as I am aiming for toning. After doing this 2 or 3 times a week for 3 weeks I have seen real results. I have also given the second half of the warm up a go using light hand weights which is very tough going but rewarding once it is all over.
If you want something that doesn't take up too much time, requires no kit and gives results then Pump, Pump It Up with the Ministry of Sound
