Fictionwriter-director Quentin Tarantino stunned the filmmaking world, exploding into prominence as a cinematic heavyweight contender. ButPulp Fictionwas more than just the follow-up to an impressive first feature, or the winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival, or a script stuffed with the sort of juicy bubblegum dialogue actors just love to chew, or the vehicle that re-established John Travolta on the A-list, or the relatively low-budget ($8 million) independent showcase for an ultrahip mixture of established marquee names and rising stars from the indie scene (among them Samuel L Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, Harvey Keitel, Christopher Walken, Tim Roth, Amanda Plummer, Julia Sweeney, Kathy Griffin and Phil Lamar). It was more, even, than an unprecedented $100-million-plus hit for indie distributor Miramax.Pulp Fictionwas a sensation. No, it was not the Second Coming (I actually thinkReservoir Dogsis a more substantial film; and PT Anderson outdid Tarantino in 1997 by making his directorial debut with two even more mature and accomplished pictures,Hard EightandBoogie Nights). ButPulp Fictionpacks so much energy and invention into telling its nonchronologically interwoven short stories (all about temptation, corruption, and redemption amongst modern criminals, large and small) it leaves viewers both exhilarated and exhausted--hearts racing and knuckles white from the ride. (Oh, and the infectious, surf-guitar-based soundtrack is tastier than a Royale with Cheese.)--Jim Emerson

This is a film that is highly violent, amusing and strangely enough with a 70's soundtrack that works well.
To me the standout character in this is Steve Buscemi, who seems to have been gets the Lions share of amusing lines.
Tarantino has character himself who just cracks out memorable lines, with the Madonna 'Like a Virgin' rant and "Mr Brown, that's too much like Mr Shit."

The films starts with the scene before the job in the cafe, followed by the title sequences where there's screaming over the 70's music, we fade in to see White driving Orange while trying to calm him down back to the warehouse...
---Plot---
A robbery at jewellery store goes wrong, when some how the cops expected it. Back at the warehouse Mr White carrying a dying Mr Orange meets up with Mr Pink, who is suspicious that there's a cop on the inside. We then proceed to meet three of the main characters watching the events beforehand as Joe recruits for the job.
Certificate: 18 Running Time: 94 Minutes (approx) Subtitles: English for the hearing impaired
---Extras--- (Special Edition 2 Discs)
I'll just mention the menu on this is ace with characters from the film just holding with quotes from the film. It doesn't look that badly done.
-Disc One-
Scene Select - includes up 18 different points to watch the film from note to all sadists you can watch the straight from the 'ear' scene
Commentary - with Director/writer Quentin Tarantino, Producer Lawrence Bender, actors Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Michael Madsen, executive producer Monte Hellman, Director of photograph Andrzej Sekula and editor Sally Menke. The commentary takes a different tone to what I'm used to. It takes turns for different people to say things, and it doesn't seem to be commenting on the bits in the film, it's just random interviews. It's better in a way as commentary's that have a lot of people on tend to just have two people mainly talking or they tend to get a bit silly and have no point to them what's so ever. It works pretty well because you can get to a bit say the bit at the beginning in the car and immediately it switches to the pre recorded interview Andrej Sekula talking about the camera movement. A much better idea as not one person sounds drunk. Another advantage to this style is that it stops it getting boring. I've watched commentaries with just the director before, and he runs out of stuff to say about ten minutes in. Then it goes quite so you're essential watching the film anyway. Then you forget he's there and suddenly he starts talking about something again. Excellent commentary.
Trailer - Complete with 'Stuck in the middle with you' playing has a few of good lines in, glad to say though that they're not all there. (Don't you hate trailers like that?)
-Disc Two-
Original Interviews - interviews with Chris Penn, Kirk Baltz, Michael Madsen, Lawrence Bender, Tim Roth, Quentin Tarantino
Film Noir Files - got a bit lost with what this had to do with the film. Talking to various writers and directors of the genre. Didn't really have much interest
Deleted Scenes - this features extra scenes with Orange (which I won't say what about cause it spoils it). Followed by White, Pink and Nice guy Eddie coming back to the warehouse after getting rid of a load of 'hot' cars. Finally they have cutting off the ear version A and version B (one being the full body shot, other being the close up on the ear).
Class of '92 - is feature on the films of 92 Sundance festival talking about how it was a revolutionary time for independent films. This goes on almost half an hour. Includes Sundance Institutes Film Makers Lab: Scenes of Reservoir Dogs. Which is a screen test, of movements etc how everyone reacts and so on.
Securing the Shoot: Location shooting with Billy Fox - this is pretty self-explanatory just talking about how they found the warehouse the film.
Tributes and Dedications - Dedications starts with Quentin talking about his Influences and how he was original going to put them at the beginning of the film, but took them off because he felt it gave the wrong message out to the audience. Here he gets the chance to talk about them. This followed up with those involved in the film that had died -Lawrence Tierney and Eddie Bunker. (No Chris Penn as this was made before his death. Then after this there's various 'experts' giving props to the film.
The impact of this film still lives on, you might not have seen this film but you probably will have seen it parodied somewhere. (Thinking of the scene with Mr Blonde torturing the cop).
The cold bloodedness shown towards the cops, with Mr White blowing them away and the torture scene are quite shocking, which I can't really remember being shocked at an other films at all. As you can tell what makes the film (and pretty much a lot of Tarantinos films) is the dialogue it's all very obscene and very funny. The acting is quality, Harvey Keitel playing the veteran crook. Michael Madsen playing the psycho, Steve Buscemi playing the character who looks after himself and Tim Roth who's pain-curdling screams still sent a chill down my spine.
The most important thing if you plan to see this film is don't get confused - this is a very basic film, if you want a violent action films go see The Terminator. An excellent film worth watching with an excellent DVD set that takes more than one sitting to watch.
"Torture you, that's a good ... that's a good idea ... I like that one" - Mr Blonde.

Seven Total Strangers Team Up For The Perfect Crime. They Don't Know Each Other's Name. But They've Got Each Other's Color
Quentin Tarantino's debut is undoubtedly a highly original, quirky and well made film. The film opens with not music, but screaming. We cut to two characters in black suits one of whom is screaming in pain after being shot. Reservoir Dogs describes the events that unfold after a botched attempt to rob a jewellery store. There's ... ...Dogs most certainly deserves the credit that it is given. It challenges the common representations of "bad guys", bad people who talk about what bad people do. One of the first conversations depicted is not about some crime committed but about the songs of Madonna. Tarantino's greatest strength is in his use of dialogue. It is snappy, original and it is not just there to move the story along. Tarantino dialogue is fun to listen and to and it makes ...

...reviews of the films.
Pulp Fiction
Tarantino's masterpiece, written in three non-sequential sections of an overall story, is as fantastic now as it was in the 90s. Characters who take centre stage in one story appear casually as backgrounders in others; lines of early story come to be understood much later as they are revealed retrospectively in the plot. And just what the hell IS that in the suitcase?
As usual, it's an ensemble cast for Tarantino ... ...childishly fun anf gruellingly adult, Pulp Fiction will always be firmly at the top of the 'All-Time' List.
Jackie Brown
Tarantino started sharpening up his multi-angle scenes in Jackie Brown, this time employing the art of repeating scenes from a different angle to reveal plot twists instead of revealing the story out of sequence (as was the case in Pulp Fiction.) A disshevelled Robert de Niro plays an unusually clunky ex-con with a slow but definite ...

...one boxset. Let's start with Pulp Fiction, what can I say that hasn't been said already. This movie is a must see for all Tarantino fans. It starts with lightning pace and just keeps on going. The plot is intricately woven giving the audience dashes of dark humour, explosive action and senceless violence. The characters are colourful and exciting and it's the best sountrack to a movie I have heard in a long time. This is a must see movie.
Jackie ... ...here, but it is still enjoyable to watch, it follows an airhostess who is caught in the middle of a war between two-bit criminals and the police. It has a soul soundtrack that oozes funk and with clever dialogue and a tight woven plot its an enjoyable film to watch.
Now on to Reservoir Dogs, this has got to be my favourite of the bunch. The basic plot follows a gang of thieves that are known to each other only as colours. The plot grabs you by the ...

Advantages: Quentin Tarantino's three most well loved films Disadvantages: Jakie Brown not quite as good as the other two
...two most favorite films EVER! Pulp Fiction being my favorite and Resevoir Dogs coming a close second. They both cover small time gangster life although Pulp Fiction covers more of a variaty, match fixing for boxing, stake outs, poppin a cap in a proverbial ass. It's all here. Set in an abandoned warehouse after a failed diamon heist the main characters make their way ... ...Samuel L JAckson noteably in Pulp Fiction is probably the coolest character ever and delivers some of the most memorable lines ever. John Travolta complements him perfectly as dot the rest of the cast including Bruce Willis on a quest for his father gold watch and Tarantino himself. He also stars as mr Brown in Resevoir dogs,as does Steve Buscemi.
Jackie Brown however is a different story, being based on a novel Pam Grier as an air hostess stars ...
