Advantages: Classic Hitchcock - I can say no more !! Disadvantages: None
I'm starting this review with a quote from the Master himself, Alfred Hitchcock:
"When a new Hitchcock film appears, the public and critics sit back at the start and say to themselves, 'Let's see him scare me.' My job is to get them up on the edge of their seats, and to keep them there. It gets more difficult all the time because one must find new ways to surprise an audience. Any time a viewer of one of my films can say to himself, 'I knew that was coming,' I've lost him."
THE BIRDS
After his groundbreaking 1960 shocker 'Psyco', Alfred Hitchcock re-emerged three years later with 'TheBirds' - a story of a California coastal town filled with an onslaught of seemingly unexplained, attacks by ordinary birds.
'TheBirds' was based on the story of the same name written by Daphne Du Maurier - this was Hitchcock's third ...

Advantages: lovely mini-series to watch Disadvantages: bit long to watch in one go
Colleen McCullough wrote The Thorn Birds in 1977. The story of illicit love between a priest and a young girl, set in Australia, starting in 1920 and spanning the next 60 years in Rome and Australia.
The Thorn Birds was turned into a mini-series in 1983, starring Rachel Ward and Richard Chamberlain in the starring roles.
I remember watching this, I would have been 11 at the time and I have also read the book several times.
My husband gave me the DVD for Christmas, so here is a little review on The Thorn Birds.

Advantages: creepy, good sound Disadvantages: slow
time goes on they come to realise that not all is as it seems in this innocuous looking shelter and they soon begin to think that staying there may not have been a good idea.
Dead Birds was recommended to me a little while ago and I decided to rent it out to see what it was like. And whilst its title is misleading I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the film, it is by no means perfect but it is far from being a complete lemon. On one side the film is fairly original in that it is set during the American Civil War, and in that whole setup looked good to me, the uniforms and the war-weary look in the people's faces all went to create a world that seemed believable and convincing, (to me at least). But it also follows standard genre conventions in that we have a creepy house, complete with a large cornfield that is spooky by ...

DVD Description
Features the classic Alfred Hitchcock films PSYCHO (1960) and THE BIRDS. In PSYCHO, lonely motel keeper Norman Bates presides over an out-of-the-way motel under the domineering spectre of his mother. Marion Crane--a blonde on the run with stolen money--checks into the hotel for the night. But Momma doesn't like loose women, so the stage is set for this classic tale of horror and one of the most famous scenes in film history. In THE BIRDS, the residents in a Californian coastal area are inexplicably besieged by flocks of birds.
