Russell Crowe enhances his credentials as head Hollywood hunk with another competent performance as a kidnap recovery specialist. The first part of the film is full of interesting background stuff about the scale of the kidnapping problem. And who knew there was a living to be made by snatching people back? Crowe's character decides to go the extra mile for his client (Meg Ryan) after her husband is deemed to be an insurance write off. Strangely, the much publicised off screen shenanigans between the two doesn't cross over to the production and they never really set the screen alight. The premise that Ryan's character should fall for the man who is trying to return her husband is self defeating and so the relationship is left unresolved. Having said all that, the action sequences are wonderfully handled and if you see it in a decent cinema, the sound is absolutely superb.

Advantages: David Caruso and David Morse are good, and the premise is good Disadvantages: Zero chemistry between Crowe and Ryan. Dull and unentertaining
