something of a predicament. There are no spoilers here, but rest assured that the pace, the energy and the sheer brass that defined the first half are all present and correct here. What's refreshing about the show, particularly in the current TV climate where series such asLostalways seem to be holding back so that they can eek out another season, is thatPrison Breaknever really loses its momentum, and rarely swerves to avoid what's in its way. Granted, in among the episodes in this boxset you'll find one devoted purely to back story, yet even that proves to have a significant place in thePrison Breakworld.Of course, to enjoy the show the same rules apply as they did to the first half of the series. You need to throw ideas of realism towards the window, and you need to accept that each episode will tick off another in the series of prison clichés you were probably expecting when you got going with episode one all that time back. But heck, this isexcitingtelevision, featuring genuine cliffhangers, a series of characters you can't help but either root for or hiss and boo at, and a great deal of slick, fast entertainment. --Simon Brew

I never watched the first series of prison break, but as the second season got into full swing I realized that I had missed out. I have to be honest the first season was a lot more action packed than the second season but if you are a avid fan then this is a series that is not to be missed.
I have since gone on to watch all of the prison break series from season one through to the current series four, Here I am reviewing season two as this is the one I have recently purchased on DVD. I know this is a few years old but for the bargain price of 25.00 for the complete series it is a DVD must for any collection.
ABOUT PRISON BREAK
Prison break was first introduced to our screens in 2004 it is am American TV series that is produced by fox broadcasting. The producers originally produced only one season but as it became so popular in the USA and the UK, they went on to film a further three seasons.
This is an American TV show so naturally it is aired in the USA first, but within two weeks it gets shown in the UK, which is really good as some of the other shows can take up to six months to be shown in the UK.
For the last few episodes in series two filming took place in Pensacola, Florida and Panama so naturally the budget for each episode of prison break is rather high and will take up to a week for each episode to filmed, once the episodes have been completed over 1 million dollars is donated to the state that it was filmed in.
For this second season there are twenty five episodes in total, so as you can imagine this has taken over well over six months to film and over 50 million dollars to produce, with is an awful lot of money and time but I have to say they have done an exceptional job and the series has captured the hearts of many people throughout the world.
The original air dates for season two were August 2006 and its final episode aired on April 2007, this was the official dates for the USA and the UK as they were only two weeks apart.
SECOND SERIES PLOT
The second season immediately proceeds the first season as the gang escape from fox river state prison, the very first episode of season two skips over escape from season one so if you have not watched the first season this give you an insight of what you have missed, it was on this episode that I knew I needed to watch the first series.
The first half of this season revolves around the original cast from the first series, here you get to know them all a little bit better and you also meet their families. In this first half you see two brothers Michael and Lincoln trying to put together their plan to escape the country.
You will see them battle against the law while they are on the run, get blackmailed and bribed while the two brothers are trying to do everything honestly. Other members who escaped with the brothers from Fox River, some good and some bad latch on to the brothers and the plan seem to get foiled at every opportunity.
The second half then takes a twist and turns into a conspiracy and the rest of the season sees all of the escapees battle for their lives as they have been in association with the two brothers and they all team together with the exception of a few to try and survive.
I am not going in to detail on who wins and who loses, but I can assure you this will keep you gripped for the entire season, I got this on DVD and didn't go to bed as I watched all of the twenty five episodes back to back.
A BIT ABOUT THE CAST
I Thought that the first season had some very strong characters in it but, but I have to say with season two the producers have certainly excelled as they have kept the amazing cast from the first season and also introduced some equally amazing characters to work alongside them in this series.
Alexander Mahone is a new character he is a Special FBI agent who is employed to catch the escapees, he is a character that you dislike immensely but he is also fighting his own demons and a drug addiction. Mahone is played by William Fichtner, who had done a fantastic job in introducing this character into the series.
Another new edition to the season is Paul Kellerman he is a secret service agent who is also hot on the tails of the escape convicts, but it becomes a battle between him and Mahone who is going to capture them, each having a different reason why they are interested in the escapees. Kellerman is played by Paul Adelstein and he also introduces a memorable character to the season.
Lastly Gretchen Morgan in introduced as company agent, she is introduced in the latter stage of the series but she makes a definite impact upon her arrival, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe plays Gretchen and looks like she means business but season three will lets us know if she is as bad as she is portrayed in this season.
All of the other cast members are returning from the first series, Marshall Allman plays Lincolns son LJ. In this season he has a much bigger role than he did in the first series, I find his role rather disappointing and I feel that his script should be much stronger as he does not really do anything for the storyline in my opinion anyway.
Amaury Nolasco plays the part of Fernando Sucre a Spanish bloke that is always in the wrong place at the wrong time, he is my favorite character as he has a huge heart and this shines through in his role.
Brad Bellick is played by Wade Williams, he is the ex prison warden that lost his job after the prisoners escape, he is also hot on the pursuit to capture the escapees and collect the huge money reward. This character is very selfish and he is one that we all love to hate.
Sarah Wayne Callies plays Sara Tancredi, she is the daughter of the governor who is killed when he gets too close to the truth, Sarah is also the doctor who fell in love with Michael and helped with the escape from Fox River. She fights to get the truth about who killed her father.
Lincoln Burrows is played my Dominic Purcell he plays the escape convict who was sentenced to the electric chair, but was saved when his brother devised a plan to break him out of prison. Now Lincoln is on the run and trying to protect himself and his son from the obstacles that lay ahead.
The main part of Michael Schofield is played by Wentworth Miller, he is a genius that has masterminded the escape from Fox River and devised the plan to escape the country. He does everything he can to stick to the plan and make his plan work. He is another of my favorite characters and he looks rather fetching too.
WHERE TO WATCH PRISON BREAK
You can watch the current series of prison break on sky one every Tuesday, each episode is repeated later in the week if ever you miss an episode.
To catch season two on TV you may struggle as sky are showing season four at the moment, you may catch a few reruns of the second season but I doubt you will catch the full series, so I would advise you buy the DVD.
If you want to watch the second series you can get them on YouTube, but you have to piece together the episodes and this can be very time consuming and take up much of your band width and down load allowance if you are limited to what you can download.
I bought my complete season two on DVD for 34.99 from www.play.com a while ago, but I have seen it on sale in Asda for 25.00 over the Christmas period. So if you are interested in the complete season Asda is the best option as this is a fantastic price as these were originally 60.00 a box set.
MY OPINION.
This is certainly a series that has captured my interest and kept me interested for four years, it has also had the same impact on the whole world so hopefully they will continue with this series and bring us a fifth season.
This was not as gripping as the first series but it is still full of action and had me on the edge of my seat, so I am sure it would do the same for anyone else watching it.
The introduction of the new characters has been great, I did not think they could top the cast from the first series but they have improved the cast by losing a few members that did not do a lot in the first series and introduced same amazing characters.
This is a must see series, if you have not yet had the pleasure then I highly recommend you get yourself to Asda to buy the DVD box set at the bargain price of 25.00, you will not be disappointed and realize what you have been missing out on.

One of the most audacious serial thrillers yet from US television (Empire, 10/05/2007)
DVD Description
Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller, THE HUMAN STAIN) and his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell, JOHN DOE) might have escaped prison at the end of series one, but that doesn't mean that drama and action have to end in this thrilling series' second year. Michael, Lincoln, and a group of escaped convicts aren't just on the run from the law, led by an FBI agent (William Fichtner, INVASION). They're also devoting their time to uncovering a vast government plot that takes them all over the world. Like fellow serial dramas LOST and 24, PRISON BREAK is a complex series driven by smart stories and engaging action that rewards multiple viewings. Features the final 12 episodes of the second series of PRISON BREAK.
