Tancredi’s apparent beheading, Michael
Scofield (Wentworth Miller) sets out on a mission
to avenge the death of his loved one. It
doesn’t take long, however, for several
revelations to put Michael on a different path--a
trip back to Chicago for an attempted reunion.
Meanwhile, Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) also makes
his way back to the Windy City when he, Sucre,

PRISON BREAK
-----------------------

This DVD is from a TV series which was shown on TV on channel 5 starting from January and finished in May. So far there is only one season however season two is to hit the TV in the new year. For all those who love Prison Break this DVD is a must buy to watch it over and over again. If you didn't watch prison break then this is also a must buy because it is absolutely fabulous! Season 1 has 22 episodes, this DVD is the first part of season 1 and has 13 episodes and the rest will come out late August early September. The whole of the first season will also come out then. The TV series was made in America.

~~~Story line~~~
Michael Scofield an intelligent man who is a structural engineer. He has a great job and fantastic life with a great house. However one day he robs a bank unexpectedly and gets placed in Fox River which is a level one security prison for armed robbery. We then learn that he himself helped design the prison and gets himself thrown inside prison in order to help his brother
Lincoln Burrows, Michael's bother, is on death row for the murder of the Vice President's brother but he claims he is innocent. However only Michael believes him. Of course Michael has a plan but what happens when the plan doesn't go to plan? Especially since there are more than one way to take a man's life in prison…
~~~Characters~~~

Michael Scofield played by Wentworth Miller - He is a great actor who plays Michael Scofield well. You may remember him from Mariah Carey's videos of We Belong Together and It's Like That. He is determined to get his brother out and has left behind his perfect life to get his brother out.

Lincoln Burrows played by Dominic Purcells - On death row for a murder he claims he didn't commit. His younger brother is determined to get him out at all costs but how do you get someone out who is on death row and due to die very soon?

Veronica Donovan played by Robin Tunney - Lincoln's lawyer who fights to show he is innocent even after he has been convicted. Also a life long friend from childhood. Lincoln and Veronica have a special bond but will she be able to save him before she loses him forever?

John Abruzzi played by Peter Stormare - Immediately Michael gets himself in trouble with Abruzzi who is a mob boss and locked in prison for a long time. However Michael needs Abruzzi but why and what for?

Fernando Sucre played by Amaury Nolasco - This nineteen year old is a great actor who is Michaels cellie (cell mate). Sucre gets himself onto the escpae plan by being in the same cell as Michael but is he really that trustworthy? Sucre is locked up for armed robbery and has a girlfriend called Maricuz on the outside but will she be waiting for him when he eventually gets out?

LJ Burrows played by Marshall Allman - Licoln's teenage son who lives with his mother and step-father. LJ is very cold towards his father and seems to hate him. However there is more to LJ then meets the eye. LJs life isn't as smooth as first appears and the season sees LJ going from bad to worse.

Captain Brad Bellick - One of the guards at Fox River who keeps the prisoner in line. As soon as Bellick saw Scofield he took a disliking to him, this soon turns to hatred. This causes Michael to have to cope with not only the torture of prison but also the threats from Bellick. Bellick watches Scofield very carefully because he thinks there is more then meets the eye but will he realise what Michael will do?

Agent Paul Kellerman played by Paul Adelstein and Agent Hale - Agents who are responsible for keeping Lincoln in prison and making sure he dies. They do everything to make sure Lincoln dies. Their cunning plans and evil ways cause lots of people to get hurt.

Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell played by Robert Knepper - Even his nick name suggests the type of man he is. T-Bag is the scum of the Earth, kidnapping, rapping and murdering girls he is in prison for the rest of his natural life with no chance of parole. However even though he is a disgusting character he has funny lines which has caused some people to like him. However Michael does not get on with T-Bag and this causes more problems for Michael.

Dr. Sara Tancredi played by Sarah Wayne Callies - The prison's doctor and a very pretty one. There seems to be chemistry between Michael and the doctor but not all is what it seems. Dr. Sara Tancredi has her own problems and working in a male prison isn't exactly safe.

Benjamin "C-Note" Franklin played by Rockmond Dunbar - All C-Note wants is to be with his wife and daughter. Michael needs C-Note to get him something important but with tensions running high is this wise?

Nick Savrinn - Another character who is not what he seems. He helps Veronica unfold the mystery of how Lincoln ends up in prison or does he?

Warden Henry Pope played by Stacy Keach - In charge of Fox River and tries to care for the welfare of prisoners especially Michael.

~~~Episodes~~~
Each episode is action packed and Michael continuously finds problems that he needs to overcome. Every episode also reveals a little more about the characters and how the plot to make Lincoln look guilty is slowly uncovered but will they be able to discover the truth?
**Pilot**
Michael gets himself into prison by robbing a bank where Lincoln Burrows is being kept. Michael approaches lots of inmates who he wants to include in the escape for various reasons and sees his brother. Agent Kellerman and Hale keep the execution smooth and plan out the final details to make sure he dies. LJ gets into trouble for drugs.
**Allen**
Michael make more enemies and realises prison is not all it seems. He finds a way to get to the infirmary which is crucial for the breakout but he also needs Abruzzi. However Abruzzi doesn't want to know Michael because he has nothing Michael needs.
Michael: Maybe you ought to hear what I've got to say.
Abruzzi: You got nothing I need.
Michael: Wouldn't be too sure of that. [places a bird, made by folding paper, on the table]
Abruzzi: My mistake-just what I need-a duck.
**Cell test**
Michael tests to see if he can trust Sucre his cell mate. However not all goes to plan and Sucre wants no part in the escape. Instead he asks for a cell transfer and Bellick decides to put Haywire in with Michael. Haywire comes from the Pysch ward and he never sleeps. Nor does he take his pills which he calls "Invislbe Handcuffs". Michael's plans are ruined unless he can trust Haywire.
**Cute posion**
Veronica works hard on the case and keeps trying to find more information. However she gets no helps untill Nick Savrinn offers to help her, they visit Lincoln to find out more. They want to delay Lincoln's execution but will they suceed or is it too late? Michael is desperate and all plans ground to a halt until he can get rid of his cell mate but that doesn't seem an option. Everything is falling apart especially since his plan has perfect timing and they can't afford to get behind.
**English, Fitz or Percy**
The pope is balcmailed by Kellerman and Hale to move Michael to a different prison after they realise he and Lincoln are brothers. The pope files a transfer but Michael doesn't want to leave he needs to break his brother out. Scofield practises the escape to time how long he has before the cops arrive.
**Riots, Drills and the Devil**
Michael blocks the air conditioning which causes the temperatures inside the jail to soar. The inmates become restless and angry. Eventually a riot breaks out and the jail is put into lock-down allowing Michael all the time he needs to carry on with his plan. Sara gets into trouble when the riots begin to spread to other parts of the prison but Michael doesn't have the time to save her. A con is blackmailed into killing Lincoln. T-Bag finds out something that could ruin the whole escape so the escpaies need to find someway to keep him quiet.
T-Bag: Can't you transfer us some place cooler? Like...Africa?
T-Bag: Not that hot? [he points to an African American cellmate]
T-Bag: When this guy woke up, he was white!
** Riots, Drills and the Devil part 2**
Michael decides that he must save Sara whilst Abruzzi and Sucre make a pact and carry on drilling through the walls behind the cells. But the problem with T-Bag remains the escapees have to make a decision before their plan is blown.
**The Old Head**
Michael needs a storeroom as the key room for his escape however he discovers its been made into a room for the guards, Michael must think of something quick because the execution date is drawing nearer. Veronica thinks she has found some evidence but she is threatened and Nick tells her he knows a place they can stay and be safe but can she trust him?
**Tweener**
Abruzzi is no longer the top of the tree in the prison when his payments stop. He looses his power which means the whole escape is at risk. T-Bag starts to act boss and seems to have control over the others with his new found information. Michael gets fed up with T-Bag and tries to sort the problem. Lincoln receives a letter from LJ saying he is ok but a lot has happened to LJ.
Michael (to T-Bag): If you want to sing, then sing.
**Sleight of hand**
Abruzzi tries to get the upper hand once again and also wants information from Michael for revenge. Another person is employed to silence Veronica and Nick which leads them to be in great danger. An inmate becomes suspicious of the break out group and tries to find out what they are doing.
**And then there were seven**
Michael gets a visit from his wife but Bellick recognises her and does some research. He goes further in threatening her and taunting Michael but will he find out what Michael is really up to? Michael needs his watch but it has been stolen by a guard, he needs to find a way to get it back. Veronica, Nick and LJ may have to give up all their work and are in a deadly position.
**Odd Man Out**
Michael realises there are too many of them breaking out and someone has to go. The team decide T-Bag is to go however T-Bag realises and has plans of his own. Abruzzi finds God but still needs to get rid off T-Bag. Sucre gets some news from Maricuz, good and bad.
C-Note: Apparently, college boy here did the math. Figured out that we got too many clowns in the car. So one of us is in here diggin' but his seat ain't guaranteed.
**End of the Tunnel**
Abruzzi is taken to hospital with a serious wound and unlikely to make it back. Michael now has more problems Abruzzi has gone and everything seems to be falling apart with Lincoln's execution the next day, will Michael pull it off? Veronica nearly gets some information to help her solve the case but something goes wrong and everyone's lives are put at danger. Lincoln is placed in solitary which makes Michael's plans very hard because he hadn't planned for that. Michael says he can't break Lincoln out and they will have to delay it but T-Bag won't let him.
~~~Other information~~~

Language - English
Country - USA
Director - Paul T. Scheuring
Genre - Drama
DVD Region - Region 2
Number of discs - 1 (although some have four but there is no difference)
Classification - 15

I agree with this classification and definitely would not let children under the age of 12 watch to because it is violent and swear often. There are also some racist comments which children may pick up. However my 13 year old sister watched it and she was not afraid however I do not think the language is expectable for a 13 year old or the violence.

~~~Worth it~~~
The prison break DVD costs £29.99 from most stores such as HMV, Woolworths, WHSmith and most other stores. If you shop around it can be bought more cheaply especially online. Although I do recommend this product I would recommend waiting until August and ordering the full season one since that will also have extras on. This DVD has NO extras or different languages therefore I believe it is worth waiting till August and buying the full season with extras rather than in two halves. However if you prefer watching it in two halves that is up to you! But definitely buy this DVD sometime! The episodes can also be downloaded from itunes.
~~~Overall view~~~

Brilliant, truly spectacular. Michael has everything planned and when something goes wrong its like running into a brick wall but he cleverly gets around them. His scary tattoos (which take four hours to put on) cover the whole of his upper body but they aren't what they seem and are crucial in getting out. The acting is brilliant and the characters are perfect. The actors fit their character very well and act out the scenes well and help build up tension.

The story is full of turns and twists. The smallest fact may be the key to the whole escape and the writers place brick walls in front of Michael (sometimes literally!) and Michael smartly gets around his problems. Some of the things you find out still haven't been shown at the end of season one. And throughout the story the writes have got you guessing and just as you think you know what will happen there is another turn.

The story doesn't get boring and gets better as it goes along. The writers use their characters well and the season moves along rapidly. Each episode leaves you with a cliff-hanger forcing you to wait and want more. That is why for those who are impatient like me it may be better to get the whole season because you will be itching to find out more!

So overall definitely one to watch not just for those who like other series such as Lost as Greys Anatomy but also those who don't usually watch this type of TV. This is slightly different and will get everyone interested.

Prison Break Season 1
Review of Prison Break - Series 1 Vol.1 (DVD) by speedy1979

Advantages: Can you break out of a prison? Wanna find out how this ones for you!
Disadvantages: Blood, Guts and lots of swearing!

...of the 2006 hit series Prison Break, successful Chicago structural engineer Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller, in a star-making role) enters a bank and fires a handgun into the air. Within moments he's arrested, then tried, convicted, and sentenced to five years at Fox River State Penitentiary. The prisoner simply grins, though, because this is just the beginning of his elaborate plan. His brother, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), has been caught ...
...out, using blueprints of the prison that have been concealed in the design of his amazing upper-body tattoo (which requires four hours of work by the makeup artists). Using both the blueprint and his previous research into the backgrounds of various inmates, Michael enlists the aid of his cellmate, Sucre (Amaury Nolasco); the old con Westmoreland (Muse Watson), who just might be infamous robber D. One thing I noticed with Prison Break is that the story is not dragged out as it is in Lost. Every episode is packed with action and details necessary to the plot. Also in each episode of Prison Break there are questions and answers wheras in lost every episode is just packed with questions ... Read review
