Features the complete series of the popular TV drama PRISON BREAK. SERIES 1 – ... more
Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is the victim of a political conspiracy that is determined to bring him down, and the only one who can save him is his brother, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller). A prison engineer, Michael gets himself arrested and locked up in the same prison where his brother sits on death row, intending to use his intimate knowledge of the jail to help them both escape. Unfortunately, Michael isn't prepared for what he finds on the inside--but he remains determined to see his plan through.SERIES 2 – Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller, THE HUMAN STAIN) and his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell, JOHN DOE) might have escaped prison at the end of season one, but that doesn't mean that drama and action have to end in this thrilling series' second year. Michael, Lincoln, and a group of escaped convicts aren't just on the run from the law, led by an FBI agent (William Fichtner, INVASION). They're also devoting their time to uncovering a vast government plot that takes them all over the world. SERIES 3 – The third season of this thrilling, hyper-paced series picks right up where the last one left off. With much of the crew back in prison at Sona Federal in Panama, Lincoln Burrows has been exonerated from his criminal charges. Michael Scofield, however, is incarcerated once again and is facing a homicide charge. The two find themselves dealing with the corrupt and far-reaching secret government Company and agree to plan and execute the escape of Company agent and convict James Whistler in exchange or the release of Dr. Sara Tancredi and L.J. Burrows. SERIES 4 – The fourth and final season of this thrilling, hyper-paced series picks right up where the last one left off. Overcome with grief by Dr. Sara Tancredi’s apparent beheading, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) sets out on a mission to avenge the death of his loved one. It doesn’t take long, however, for several revelations to put Michael on a different path--a trip back to Chicago for an attempted reunion. Meanwhile, Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) also makes his way back to the Windy City when he, Sucre, Mahone, and Belick are transferred there from Sona, the recently reduced-to-ashes Panamanian prison facility. There in Chicago, a Department of Homeland Security agent (Michael Rapaport) coerces the crew into joining a movement to take down the corrupt and far-reaching secret government syndicate known only as the Company.

Granted, in among the episodes in this boxset you'll find one devoted purely to back story, yet even that proves to have a significant place in thePrison Breakworld.Of course, to enjoy the show the same rules apply as they did to the first half of the series. You need to throw ideas of realism towards the window, and you need to accept that each episode will tick off another in the series of prison clichés you were probably expecting when you got going with episode one all that time back. Prison Break is definitely my favourite on-going tv series at the moment. From the very first episode, I found myself fixated with the show, and I can honestly say that I can barely remember even seeing a single bad episode, and the series has completed it's third season by now. Season 1 was created by Paul Scheuring, and Season 1 first aired in 2006, on Channel 5, and has since become one of the most popular tv shows both in the Us and here in the UK.
The show centres on Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), a man who has seen his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), jailed and sent to death row for killing the vice-presidents brother .. a crime he did not commit. Michael, believing his brother is innocent, has forged a plan to get his brother out of prison to give himself enough time to prove his innocence. Michael was an architect involved in the design of Fox River Penitentiary, where his brother is imprisoned, and he has disguised the blueprints of the prison in a series of clever tattoos that are covering his body from waist to neck. He decides to hold up a bank in order to get arrested, and incarcerated in Fox River, so that he can get to work on his plan to free his brother.
Michael faces challenge after challenge, and problem after problem once inside the prison, where he is surrounded by some of the most dangerous inmates in the state. The prison guards are uncompromising, and are out to make the inmates lives as difficult as possible, whilst taking an instant disliking to Michael. As Michael tries to keep his head down, and do his best to plan his brothers escape, on the outside Lincoln's lawyer and ex-girlfriend try frantically to uncover the government conspiracy that has sent their man to prison. They face a race against time to uncover the truth before Licoln is excecuted, in the event that Michael's plan fails.
There are a wealth of characters in the first season. Inside the prison, a number of inmates learn of Michael's plan, and insist that they are involved in the escape. These include Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and T-Bag (Robert Knepper) to name a couple, as Michael must decide which he can trust, and which he cannot. The head of the prison guards, Brad Bellick (Wade Williams), keeps a keen eye on Michael, and makes his life as difficult as possible for him at every opportunity. Michael also befriends the prison doctor, Sarah Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies), who he convinces to help out with the escape. On the outside, government agent Paul Kellerman (Paul Adelstein) is assigned to foil the attempts of Lincol's ex-girlfriend, Veronica Donovan's (Robin Tunney) attempts to uncover the truth.
Prison Break is a fantastic show, full of non stop tension, action and excitement. The majority of the first season takes place inside the prison, which may sound a little un-exciting and repetitive, but this is not the case by any means. The story is so well written, that there is so much going on in each and every episode, that you never want the episode to end. The characters involved in the show are all absolutely brilliant. Apart from the obvious being Michael Scofield, Theodore Bagwell or T-Bag is an absolute stand out character. He is so horrible, slimey and untrustworthy, that it's impossible to take your eyes off him.
Wentworth Miller is brilliant as Michael Schofield. His strange Batman-like voice takes a little bit of getting used to, but apart from than he's fantastic. He has a very mysterious and cunning presence about himself, which is perfect for the role he is playing as a relative genius. Most of the characters in the show are so well played, and there are so many that it's hard to single them out. Some of my favourite characters in the show include, Michael Scofield, T-Bag and Agent Kellerman.
There are so many different stories on-going in the show, and with so many sub-plots, you definitely need to have your head screwed on when watching. I found myself having to watch several episodes at a time, because I litterally was addicted to the show. I can't rave about this program enough. I have always been a Lost fan, but since this show first aired, I personally believe that it is head and shoulders above it, with a better story and a stronger range of characters.
If the 22 episodes of non-stop action are not enough for you, the DVD extra's included in the box-set are quite extensive. There are a number of episodes included which have multiple commentary from the likes of director Paul Scheuring, and from actors including Dominic Purcell, Robert Knepper, Wade Williams, Sarah Wayne Callies and Amaury Nolasco. There are a number of alternate scenes and also 3 excellent featurettes. The first of which is a profile of the prison that the show is set in, which is actually called the Joliet Correctional Center. The feature takes you on a tour inside of the prison. Another featurette focuses on the map hidden within Michael Scofield's tattoos, and shown in greater detail how the map and tattoos were combined. The final featurette is a 'Fox Inside Look' into the show, highlighting details of the cast and how the series is made and filmed.
The first season of Prison Break can be bought for between £30 - £40 today, and in my opinion is worth every penny, with over 15 hours of programme and extras a plenty.

Prison Break is one of the most clever and creative story lines to ever grace the earth. Advantages: all three seasons in one set Disadvantages: season three was cut short but still rocked!!
If there was one word to sum up prisonbreak it would have to be "SUPERB!!". I remember when I was first told about prisonbreak and at first I thought that it sounded quite interesting so I went out and bought the first season on DVD. As soon as I watched the first episode I had to watch the next one as I was blown away at how clever and unique the first episode was. I then remember watching the whole of the first season only to find out that the second series is not out yet so I had to wait a few months for them to come out, but with this DVDset you will be getting not one but all three of the series that are out so far. Each season contains 22 episodes except for season three which has 13 episodes due to the writters going on strike at the time.
