the great talents of the last quarter-century, a fact easily obscured by the sheer volume and varying quality of his recorded output, not to mention his weird behaviour. The guy has always had a preternatural ability to channel R&B and rock legends such as Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix and James Brown (compare this performance's amazing "Money Don't Matter 2 Night/The Work"); now he's added more sophisticated flavours to the mix as well, ranging from George Benson to Steely Dan and Weather Report, and all without sacrificing his own voice. Add to that covers of the Ohio Players' "Love Rollercoaster" and Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" (really), all played by Prince and his smokin', skin-tight band, and what you get is one of the best shows of 2002, or any other year. It's extraordinary.--Sam Graham

As you fly into LasVegas the first thing that strikes you is the lush green golf course in the middle of the desert. Once you get over this the next thing that will draw your eyes and make your gasp in awe are the enormous hotels that line the strip. You can name the most famous from the air "MGM Grand, Luxor, New York New York, Caesar's Palace and the Bellagio" but for me I couldn't for the life of me point out where we would be staying.
The "New" Aladdin is located opposite the Bellagio Hotel half way down the famous strip, and stretches over 34 acres of Nevada Desert. Based upon an Arabian theme, the Aladdin boasts:
· 2,600 oversized rooms and suites.
· A casino that spans over 100,000 square feet.
· A theatre that can seat 7,000 and provides three shows nightly.
· A shopping mall spanning 500,000 square feet ...
Advantages: James Caan, good location shots of Las Vegas, fun to watch, beautiful people Disadvantages: some storylines, acting not too hot
I came very late to the TV show "LasVegas". It never really interested me, I had watched the odd few minutes on Sky when it was on but never managed a whole episode. There are a few TV programmes I watch regularly this was not one of them.
Then, one night, unable to sleep, I caught the pilot episode. I have no idea how many times it had been on a quick turnaround repeat since it was first shown on Sky but I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe it was the lack of sleep that made me continue watching but I got hooked. In the end I bought the DVD box sets (Season 1 and 2)
