Pride 23 Championship (DVD)

...hurts, alot.

Pride 23 was no classic but still worth a look for fight fans.
As allways it was held in the massive Tokyo Dome with a equally massive crowd.
Not a whole lot of great fights with many mismatches, what pride fans have come to expect over the years.

Some highlights include Wanderlei (the axe murderer) Silva, great nickname, vs Hiromitsu Kanehara. Just to see the sheer aggression of Wanderlei ...

Some highlights include Wanderlei (the axe murderer) Silva, great nickname, vs Hiromitsu Kanehara. Just to see the sheer aggression of Wanderlei is something different that sets him apart from alot of other fighters.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs Semmy Schilt is a decent bout, Nogueira is a ground submissions specialist while Schilt is a 6 foot 10 kickboxer.

Hidehiko Yoshida vs Don (The Predator) Frye. Nothing much here apart from the fact Frye looks like Magnum P.I on steroids.

Kevin (The Beast) Randleman vs Kenichi Yamamoto is all one way traffic and poor Yamamoto can't get out the way of this on coming truck. The highlight here is what can only be called skyscraper knees to Yamamotos head, ouch !

Kazushi Sakauraba vs Gilles Arsene. Now Sakauraba is one of the most respected fighters in the sport and a hero in Japan. But this fight just plain sucks, Arsene from France just looks like he doesn't know what to do or has been told to lose. He never trys to throw a punch which is strange considering this is a contact fight sport !
