John Mctiernan is the director of this brilliant action packed blockbuster. If you were to combine Alien and Rambo with a bit of Vietnam into one film this is what you would get.
After being recruited by the CIA Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite squad of US Commandos to the center of the South American Jungle where they have been assigned to rescue some milatry hostages held by Guerilla fighters. Instead of what would be a fairly straight foward mission they arrive to find a bunch of skinned bodies hanging from trees and realise they are fighting a much more sinister force. They manage to pick up a women who had hid from the attack and begins to tell them off the evil creature as it follows them through the woods and begins to pick them off one by one in deadly style for sport. Soon Arnie finds himself at battle with a hideous alien creature that is armed with high tech gadgets and wearing a spacesuit which can make him invisable.
The films special effects are still very impressive even though it is over a decade old after being made in 1987 and with its stunning location in the jungle creates the perfect deserted as well as deadly location.The film is very exciting and make sure you have every thing you need before you sit down because you won't be able to move from your seat because of the entertaining and mind gripping scenes. The alien in this film is the second best which has been created on a movie set only beaten by the Alien films.This is definatly one of my best ten films of all time.
Its Arnies best film to date and has made him a superstar in Hollywood.While not everyone might like it it has become a classic film.This is the ultimate classic action film that has been numerosly copied by others.The director proved his quality in this film and went on to make Die Hard.

This is one of my favourite Arnie movies and the sequel was pretty cool as well. Jesse Ventura was great though and should have been in it for longer! Now there's an interesting guy...from special forces to wrestling to Predator and finally American senator lol! (apparently no one argues with the big dude's poitical decisions - no kidding!!)

Advantages: Classic sci fi, plenty of violence and action, thrilling!!! some tense action to be enjoyed without a doubt Disadvantages: Getting on abit now, was made in 1987, but special effects are ace for the time
