At the start of the film a strange object falls onto Earth from space. It is the Predator's pod. A predator is an alien being that hunts for honour and collects skulls as its trophies. It has the ability to camouflage itself by bending light using its suit. It can also see in infra-red to spot it's prey easily.

Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his crew of special forces are sent in to a South American Jungle, along with his ex-member Dillon (Carl Weathers), to rescue some men from a helicopter crash. They storm a Guerrilla camp only to find that the Government (and Dillon) have tricked them into doing their dirty work.

But on their way to the landing zone they realise that they are being hunted, one by one, each death more gruesome than the last! They take with them a survivor from the Guerrilla camp who witnesses the brutal murder of one of the team. She insists that "The jungle, it came alive and took him!"

It's up to Dutch to take charge and try to capture or kill the Predator!

Originally, Jean-Claude Vann Damme was cast the role as the predator. But after trying the suit he quit as it was too dangerous (and quite frankly wasn't very good!). McTiernan finally decided that the suit was too shoddy and they finally decide too spend around $1m on a new one, which i have to say is excellent!!!!

Classic Moments
The Mini-gun! Watch as the jungle gets torn down as Mac picks up the Mini-gun and fires blindly into the trees as the Predator escapes! Classic!
The Pig! Dutch and his team wait at night surrounded by traps they have set. Suddenly, flares go off and Mac stabs wildly at their killer! Only to find that it is a wild pig!

There are a great load of special features as you can see from the list above, which give a better insight into how the film came about etc. I'm not normally one for special features, but with a superb film like this I had to see more!

This is one of the best DVD's out there and Arnie's greatest achievement (except The Terminator of course!). It has lots of action and guns and even has the odd bit of comedy to make the viewer feel at ease. I would recommend this to anyone with a brain cell as it is not to be missed!

Overall: 100% This is one of my all time favourite films! John McTiernan pulls off another great Classic! It has a strong cast (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers) and a great plot! A must for everyone!!!
You can get this along with Predator 2 special edition for £15.99 from Play.com!!! Bargain! What are you waiting for???

A good review, with some very interesting facts that I was unaware of. It's a shame that the sequels were so poor !!
