I love Arnie and his films which is why predator 1 remains at the top of my favourite films. If you are not familiar with the premise here it goes;
A small team of comandos have been assigned a mission to bring to safety airmen who have been kidnapped by terrorists. They are sent deep into an American Jungle but as they complete their rescue, they realise something more deadly is hunting them. Bring in the predator - an alien hunter who collects human parts for trophies. As they are hunted down one by one, the others have to escape.
This film is pure genius and will appeal to most people. It is not particularly scary but with the predator being able to make himself be invisible, it provides some haunting moments. Arnold Schwarzenegger is brilliant as Dutch who takes it upon himself to try and protect everybody. The DVD also has some good features such as outtakes and interviews.
What lets this dvd set down is predator 2. The story;
The predator comes back to haunt Los Angeles. Danny Glover stars as Lt. Hannigan who realises the drug lords he is fighting are being killed off in a very brutal fashion. Harrigan sets off to kill the alien before it strikes again.
This film is watchable but i wouldnt want to see it again. It seems the directors have concentrated too much on making the film as scary and as gory as possible but have lacked imagination on the story. The acting is good but the story really lets it down.
