Predator/Predator 2 (Box Set) (DVD)

i think this Action/Adventure film is one of meny sci-fi action pack thrillers that keeps you on the edge of your seat its brill.

Advantages: great if you like lots of fighting and aliens, of course there is only one
Disadvantages: Not good if you don't like gore and being made to jump a bit

There is plenty of gore, lots of flesh ripped off hung up bodies! Arnie, of course, makes the first film that much better. The alien has plenty of weapons and defences, including the ability to become almost invisible. We also find out why he is here. The first film starts with a bunch of soldiers in the jungle on a rescue mission ,they think they will only fight humans, wrong! Also they have been lied too. (government coverup?) They also think ...
...the predator. Watch out for the pretty good effect of an invisible alien rushing through the forest. Loads of killing later, Arnie turns in to a hero of extreme proportions, of course, but the effects are good and a fairly good take on the bad alien comes to earth theme. Advantages: two DVD's of killing and blood
Disadvantages: bit expensive but its ok

...has some good features such as outtakes and interviews. What lets this dvd set down is predator 2. The story; The predator comes back to haunt Los Angeles. Danny Glover stars as Lt. Hannigan who realises the drug lords he is fighting are being killed off in a very brutal fashion. Harrigan sets off to kill the alien before it strikes again. This film is watchable but i wouldnt want to see it again. It seems the directors have concentrated too much on making the film as scary and as gory as possible but have lacked imagination on the story. The acting is good but the story really lets it down.... Read review

...I'm a big fan of the character "Predator" and the first movie shows it off well. Its well shot with the locations well chosen and the special effects not giving an idea of the "Predator" itself until well into the movie. Relatively good acting by Arnie, although its good he doesn't have too many lines. The opening sequence where he meets General Phillips can spoil the movie if you don't like lame lines. Like the jungle scences and the sequences where you only see the infrared images from the "Predator". Predator 2 is a good movie but it misses the character of Dutch as in the book the movie should have been based on- "Concrete Jungle". Bit creepy feel to it with the dark shots used. Like the ending scene inside the Pred ship (note the "Aliens" skull in the background !)but could do without the character of Jerry Lambert. He gets annoying... Read review
