...up that easily?
The Predator is a fantastic example of its genre and is arguably the inspiration for the 'Slasher' genre where a superior evil being kills off its victims one by one. This film however deals with that concept much better than any teen horror. This is a film where you get to see big guys with guns blowing s**t up. Arnie with his M16 and Grenade Launcher combo (reminds me of his role as John Matrix in "Commando"), Jesse Ventura ("The ... ...expertly, saving the match bewteen Predator and Arnie at the end and no sooner. He also doesn't waste time with unnecessary character development that doesn't accelerate the storyline or add to it. All you need to know is that there is some kind of alien in the jungle and the Commandos are under threat, no more, no less.
Sountrack is synthesised (a true product of the eighties) especially the main theme tune of the film. Der der der de de der, der ...

The Predator was originally to be played by none other than the Muscle from Brussels, Jean Claude van Damme who took the hump at an uncredited appearance and left after two days of filming. The predator was then redesigned, and in stepped Kevin Peter Hall to great effect.

Advantages: Classic sci fi, plenty of violence and action, thrilling!!! some tense action to be enjoyed without a doubt Disadvantages: Getting on abit now, was made in 1987, but special effects are ace for the time
...force one by one. The predator makes short work of its prey, using its hightech arsenal of weaponry and utilities it hunts them through the jungle, watching their every move with its infra-red vision. Advantages: Script, action, sound fx, special fx, direction Disadvantages: too much macho posturing, weakish ending.
...thrills in equal measure.
Predator is no more than "Alien" versus "Rambo" for a rumble in the jungle. This could quite easily have been a Z-rated movie ending up on the video shelf with not even a fanfare to cheer it along. However, this film rises above the dross because of three solid elements - Director, John McTiernan (of Die Hard fame); Jim & John Thomas writing a very tight screenplay. And of course a testerone-filled film like this wouldn't ... ...weigh it down. Predator is an action fans dream. It's so masculine & proud of itself you'd be pushed to find a subtle moment throughout. The commandos are all muscular types with 6-pack chests and rippling muscles, sharp one-liners and sweaty brows.
Arnie acts like Arnie always acts....but for a change this kind of scenario & savage environment suits him down to the ground, so we can ignore his male posturing and chewing of huge cigars while keeping ...

Advantages: Excellent special effects which wouldn't be out of place today Disadvantages: none
John Mctiernan is the director of this brilliant action packed blockbuster. If you were to combine Alien and Rambo with a bit of Vietnam into one film this is what you would get.
After being recruited by the CIA Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite squad of US Commandos to the center of the South American Jungle where they have been assigned to rescue some milatry hostages held by Guerilla fighters. Instead of what would be a fairly straight foward ... ...hanging from trees and realise they are fighting a much more sinister force. They manage to pick up a women who had hid from the attack and begins to tell them off the evil creature as it follows them through the woods and begins to pick them off one by one in deadly style for sport. Soon Arnie finds himself at battle with a hideous alien creature that is armed with high tech gadgets and wearing a spacesuit which can make him invisable.

Advantages: Great coverage, good narrative content Disadvantages: Price
...A great DVD which delves into the world of the african predator on the plains of the serangehetti and other locations. Narrative content was precise, informative and extremely educational, I would recommend this DVD to any teachers who are looking to inspire young minds and hopefully create zoologists of the future!
The soundtrack is loud in places, but adds to the overall dramatic effect especially during the chases between the leopard and the Thompson Gazel. All in all a very enjoyable natural history program, although David attenborough narration would have made the overall dramatic effect and content a whole lot better! In addition the coverage made in this relatively short film is amazing and is a true credit to the discovery channel....

...predator
the aliens have landed and arnie and his crack team have been brought into do a covert rescue mission.
unknown to them they are now the prey.
fast action machine gun welding american special opps try to outwit and beat the alien invader but they cant see it.
the alien with the ability to camouflage into any back ground causes major problems for these special soliders with battles all though the film.
predator 2
the camouflaged alien is back this time in the city.
again its fast action killing spree sets up both gangs and police searching for the one they cant see.
all though there is no arnie in this film its still fast and packed with shoot outs from police gangs and the alien makes for a good watch....

Advantages: Good for a slow sunday afternoon Disadvantages: spoils the real predator/Alien movies
...After enjoying the first 2 predator films, unusually finding the second more entertaining than the first, and jumping my way through the Alien films, i was under the impression that Predator Vs Alien would be the beast of all films, how wrong can a person be?
After showing the Alien creatures skull on the predators space craft in Predator 2 this stated that the Alien creature were weaker than the Predators, but to actually make this into a film was always going to be a difficult task for the writers.
The film was slow to start and it desperately tried to explain the reason why both alien species came to meet.
The three types of creatures fighting for survival in the dark depths of planet Earth, only for the strongest and smartest species to survive, but who would come out of the pits of hell.
It sounded a good plot and the action scenes...
