The Powerpuff Girls, Cartoon Network's animated trio of butt-kicking superheroines, make ... more
their big-screen debut in a film that will please fans of the TV series and animation fans young and old. The plot begins with the girls' creation at the hands of the kindly but naive Professor Utonium, who combined "sugar, spice and all things nice" to create three perfect little girls--practical Blossom, feisty Buttercup, and wussy Bubbles. Unfortunately, his ape assistant, Jojo, broke a bottle of the mysterious Chemical X in the lab and the girls' superpowers--as well as Jojo's--were born. After wrecking Townsville during a somewhat boisterous game of Tag, the girls are treated as outcasts by their fellow citizens and determine never to use their powers in public again--until they're confronted by Jojo and the girls find themselves called upon to foil his evil schemes and "save the world before bedtime".Though it takes a while to get going,The Powerpuff Girlsis exciting enough to keep younger viewers engrossed while throwing in a few--though not really enough--monkey-related in-jokes to get the adults chortling once in a while. The heavily stylised pastel colouring and frenetic pace of the animation, while distinctive, may be off-putting to people used to the more polished style of Disney, and some of the later scenes, full of screeching, sharp-toothed apes, may be upsetting to very young viewers. The film's ostensible message--"don't treat people badly just because they're different" seems to take a bit of a back seat too. Nevertheless,The Powerpuff Girlsprovides a solid 80 minutes of fun, despite lacking the mainstream appeal of the likes ofShrekor the Disney/Pixar movies. --Rikki Price

I never saw the point of making the film, until I experianced the masses and masses of franchise in a shop this film made (that shan’t be named). While the series of ‘The powerpuff Girls’ is probably good, I can only see one reason they made this film adapted from the series of the same name. I never saw the point of making the film, until I experianced the masses and masses of franchise in a shop this film made (that shan’t be named). It was everywhere from books, bags, pencils, folders, notepads, dolls, lunchboxes the list goes on. Yes, it attracts to a lot of girls and seems fun to watch (not to me though!) but if I said to my little five year old brother to turn over his much loved Spiderman so my daughter can watch powerpuff girls, I would get a rather chilling look from him, as if to say what for. My daughter loves this film, but I can’t see the fascination, but I will try to look at it from her point of view as she and many children her age are the people this was made for. As I watched this film while doing my housework it seemed to have a hold on my daughter, as much of her programmes do (thank you T.V!) It did seem good, with bright bold colours, good storyline and good crime battling scenes and the fact of not knowing if the powerpuff girls will ever beat the villain. Mojo Jojo conjuring up a plan that will leave him rich and mayor of the town (can’t believe I’m saying this) Some good villains as on the series, but in my view it could’ve done with more and new villains.
Lenth: 50 minutes, of what i can recall, even though it seemed like more.
Action: A lot of the same villains and characters as used in the series. A lot of the same plot as well. The villains rob banks and the mayor calls the girls for help. Overall a good film(from a child’s point of view) and I will recommend it to you mothers and fathers that have trouble with calming the little terrors down and only for that reason, it does work, but you could catch the same action on Cartoon Network, as they have back to back days. Not really worth the money spent on it,
Three perfect, powerful girls are produced as a result of a mix-up in the lab. They seem unable to control their powers and wreck Townsville in a game of tag. Jojo, the monkey who caused the mistake in the lab, does a deal with the girls as he plans to take over Townsville. The girls realise that with power comes responsibility.

DVD Description
If the POWERPUFF GIRLS television show packs a punch, then their first movie delivers a serious wallop. POWERPUFF GIRLS creator Craig McCracken takes his widely popular characters--Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, and their posse--and kicks it up a few notches with a stylish look that's easy on the eyes and engaging to all audiences. The film begins with a flashback to the POWERPUFF GIRLS' early days, when they were but a glimmer in the eye of their father-creator Professor Plutonium. The three girls--who are cute to the point of distraction--are not the pride of Townsville like they are on TV. They are persecuted as "freaks" because they cannot control their special powers. Who could have predicted that a nuclear-powered game of tag would wreak havoc on Townsville
